It depends on your goals in this career. What is it you want to achieve by working at a regional airline?

I interviewed at both and SkyWest was my first choice, but didn't get it.

things at AirWis are good, but I think we would be better off with a second (or third) code share like SkyWest has. SkyWest is growing more and 'may' offer a faster upgrade. They have a host of bases that are awesome if you're from the West, and ZW only offers ORD and ATW for now (DEN continues to shrink because all the UAX flying has gone to SkyWest and Mesa). Dulles may happen, we'll see.

compare pay and you'll see that they are very competitive. SkyWest doesn't pay during training and first year pay is a little lower, but beyond that they are a little higher.

comes down to where you want to live I think.

good luck,

UP

I have high hopes for ZW. I think this summer will make or break them, based on 2 things:Will UAL survive and what was dicussed in ORD last week between ZWs' MEC and UAL.
But I'm not a gambling man , so I'd have to go with Skywest.

All I know is Mesa, Skywest, Trans States and ZW met with United to discuss how they'll be dividing up the flying in the future. No details were disclosed.

I know CrashPad to usaually have decent posts so I'm not trying to flame or anything, but I guess I'm confused as to why our MEC would be meeting with United to discuss future flying. Are you sure you mean MEC's???

By the way.....and trust me ANYTHING can change....toss me in for a vote to go to Skywest. But keep this in mind...since I've interviewed at Air Wis only about a year and 4 months ago.....this is an example of what can happen we've retired our entire D-328 fleet (bye bye 300 new guys that were advertised to be underneath me, now only 100), we no longer work under the contract I came to Willy for (CCCCCC-YA, maybe in 8 years!!!), the Atlanta base I thought I'd be working out of for the remainder of my career here and moved here for looks like it's future is limited ( hello commuting!!!).

Air Whiskey is a good company, and out of all the other options I had in my career I believe I still made the right decision, I stayed up day and night coming up with every possibe senario as to which decision would be the right one and today, like an idiot I can honestly say I didn't see any of these coming. Good Luck..........it's all a gamble. If I would have just went to Lakes or AirMidwest 4 years ago who knows where I'd be right now?? Just be patient and enjoy your life each day as it comes.......that's what I keep telling myself......but then again I'm F'd in the head.......my roomates tell me everyday. Good Luck!!!!! AD

p.s. any word on the pay situation over at Skywest concerning this whole 18 month gig??? I know United is trying to get the three Amigos to sign 5 year contracts on airplanes leases that last 20 years for new flying..........what do you think United had in mind for AWAC when that time came.....ohh guess what lower your rates or lose your contract ( this while knowing we are obligated to pay our leases for another 15 years). I'm glad our owners appear to be making decsions that will not futher put our company/ my pay in jepordy.

I went to check the facts. The ZW MEC Chairman attended a code share meeting in Chicago hosted by the UAL MEC. In attendance were reps from ACA, Mesa, Skywest and Tran States. They were given the numbers of aircraft that express would fly and who would fly them as UAL emerges form bankruptcy.

This occurred the week prior to March 18th. Wish they would share more details.

Cool thanks Crashpad......maybe someone actually has a plan after all!!!! Sounds about the same week they came out with the 3 new Express carriers, I wonder if that was addressed, in fact that same week it was shared with us the basic breakdown for the future UAX fleet nothing we hadn't heard before, just now all neatly printed out on the same piece of paper unstead of misc press releases........could be the same information...........anyway now to see if the master plan works I guess.
