Anyone know different hotels that you can recieve wireless internet. I am not saying they offer it but you can recieve it with your laptop?

unfortunatly most are still 10 bucks a day....

supposedly Marriott says by 2005 all lower budget hotels (residence,courtyards etc) will have free wifi service. regulaar Marriotts and resorts will be $10...

Get a Treo 600 through Sprint. $15 a month for unlimited e-mail and data. You can use the Treo as a modem and feed the connection into your laptop if the Treo's screen is too small. Peak bandwith is around 144 KBPS.

I have a Treo 300 and use PDANet as a modem bridge for my laptop.

This works GREAT!

Unfortunately, it's a violation of the Sprint TOS and according to the forum at treocentral.com if you bust 300mb in a billing period, they'll charge you $60 or cancel your account.

Proving you are using the Treo as laptop modem would be trivial.

So, I use mine very, very sparingly.

I can't wait for wi-fi to be ubiquitous.

I just used it for the first time on a 10 day trip to GA.

PDANet shows bytes sent and received for a session.

Reading forums and email a couple of times a day amounted to sessions in the 2-3MB range.

2.5MB * 3 sessions/day * 10 days = 75MB

So, I was well within the limits of my 'unlimited' internet usage (heh).

Dunno what the actual limits are...just heard 300MB from someone who got that from their customer support (who are completely clueless if it's the same people I've talked to).
