Are there any plans in motion to put winglets on DC-10s or 767s? Even raked wingtips for that matter? It seems like these two aircraft types have the range where fuel savings would be measurable. You'd think UPS and FedEX would be all over Boeing or Aviation partners about equipping these two aircraft. Any thoughts?

Might work on the 767, but I am not sure about the DC-10.

We commonly refer to the winglet as a "Flight Engineers tombstone".

I had heard that Boeing wanted UPS to be the launch customer for 767 winglets but the downtime involved as well as the lower a/c utilization rates dissuaded them from doing so.

abx would probably try to put rakes on the wingtips...

So you guys think the fuel savings would be enough to warrant the removal of the FE? What's the deal with lower utilization rates? Will winglet equipped aircraft not be able to be used as much?

Along those lines, did yousee where China is making that ARJ-21 which is basically a DC-9 with CF-34 engines and Russian designed CRJ wings?
