Well after our industry reached a new low this week with JetBlue's proposed EMB-190 pay rates I am wondering just one thing.

How many of you will still apply to or keep your apps in at JetBlue? Honestly.

As long as those rates stick I will never even think about going over there. It's a personal choice of my own making. Maybe JetBlue will work out for some of the rest of you but I just can't justify stooping to that new low just to get a shot eventually at an underpaid Airbus seat.

Unfortunately if the doomsday scenario plays out and big U and USAir go t!ts up I'm afraid there will suddenly be thousands of unemployed pilots jumping at the opportunity to fly anything for a paycheck with bennies. And that will be the end of the modern airline pilot career as we know it.

Call me crazy but after 6 years of flying for a commuter turned regional turned national and now Major airline on paper, I have come to a minimum amount that I consider my time away from my family is worth. $72 an hour on a DC-9 sized airplane doesn't meet my minimums. Not even close.

We are only cutting our own throats folks. Please don't be the one holding the knife when it's all said and done.

Who do you work for that was a regional, that is now a major, ie 1B rev + 100 seat aircraft

what are the numbers?

What are the new rates that are being proposed? Perhaps they will put a clause in their contract that doesn't allow their pilots wear their uniform when they use food stamps for buying groceries....

XJet. "On paper" over one billion in revenue in 2003 = Major Airline, which isn't the same as profits. Xjet only made a mere 108 million in profits in 2003. Not sure if number of seats/aircraft factors in.

Cool, I guess I was under the assumption that they designated a Major as one with a 1B + aircraft with over 100 seats. I don't know, anyone confirm?

And if it makes you feel better, I wouldn't go either.
