Just curious if anyone has been to the job fair portion of the WIA conf. before and if it was worth the $. I am thinking of going, but it is pretty expensive when all I plan to do is drop off a resume at Fedex and Southwest. Anyone with any helpful info would be appreciated :)

If you are a woman, yes. If you are a man, maybe. I've heard about fellas going in years past and making some good contacts.

Yes, go - it's much better than any AIR inc conference. THERE ARE NO LINES!!!!!!!!

Men have an advantage at this conference - you'll be a minority for the first time in your flying career.

WIA is waaayyy worth it, no matter your gender or race. The same recruiters are there that are at the Air Inc. job fairs, and there are definitely no lines. At the last WIA job fair I spent several long detailed conversations over a two day period talking with the Jetblue recruiters, which is what got me started down the path of coming to Jetblue. At the Air Inc. conventions I hear you get maybe 30 seconds to a minute with each recruiter.

There were many guys who were brave enough to show up at the WIA convention and they got just as much "face time" with the recruiters as the gals, and certainly far more than anyone gets at an Air Inc. job fair. While attending a job fair isn't really going to give you a leg up in the Jetblue process (its all an online application), it will give you an opportunity to ask questions about the process and see where you stand.

I think some of the other airlines do offer interviews and/or preference if you have attended a job fair, so it does make it a wise investment.

Yes

Yes-- this is a great opportunity. The floor is open most of the time and you can take your time and visit.
I would tell you though that in the past, Fedex has sometimes been more interested in maintenance than pilots but most should be there.

For others, the regionals and other carriers attend as this is the most politically correct convention to be at. Besides you are at a convention with a bunch of really great ladies.

As I attended just about all of these type shows, I can say this was the most enjoyable and productive.

Just wait until the next Men in Aviation convention and meet all the people that will label you as as no good cofederate flag wavin' racist honkey. They will weed out all the white guys at the WIA convention by playing Bachman Turner Overdrives "Takin' care of business" over to PA system and find you, due to your unabilty to stop stomping your right foot like some neo-facist Sam Drucker trying to hoe down at the Shady Rest.

I was thinking about going to the Women In Aviation conference just so that I could meet some girls for the weekend.

When you think about it, out of all those girls, there is bound to be more then a few, who are Hot to Trot. (if you know what i'm saying). So I was going to go there and clean up!!!!

ScramJet.

Will Hooters Air be doing quite a bit of recruiting there?

Jedi and Scram,

Wait a minute. You realize the women there are pilots. So the old line, "You know, I'm a pilot," isn't going to work. Plus, being in the business they know better than to get involved with a pilot.

I think you're either overestimating your abilities to influence a woman or you're severely underestimating the female pilots in the business.

Uh, happy landings anyway.

If anyone is considering going, but didn't register before the deadline for the cheaper rate, PM me. I registered but it looks like I won't be able to go. Looking to off this ticket if anyone is interested.

Hmmm, let's see. Can't use the phrase "hey baby, I'm a pilot". How about "would you like to touch my monkey?"

English, your PM box is full.

OK, I just emptied it...try again, should work now.

Wait a minute. You realize the women there are pilots.

There will be several female non-pilot mechanics attending.

The 'target-rich' environment works both ways. Jedi Nein has been, is, and continues to be a 100% single, eligible, and looking female. The usual standard applies, send picture of airplane.

Fly SAFE!
