This is a quote from a regional wannabe on the jetcareers message board. This guy is trying to decide whether he wants to work for Comair or ASA. Since his attitude prevails at the wannabe level, you guys have NO hope of ever getting the regionals to a respectable level as far as a true career job that you can comfortably retire from....Enjoy!!!!

Hey, I(Won't)HaveAPension(ForLong).....did the airline you are at start out with 727s and MD-11s? Or did they start out with smaller aircraft?

Yeah, a typical jetcareers poster. If they ever do make it that far, they will get a quick reality check when the first-year reserve pay hits the bank account. (Although it is a big step up for a starving instructor.) But, really, it's the regional airline managements' "race-to-the bottom for our bankrupt partners" mentality that will keep the paychecks low as they continue to con the pilots with low salaries and contract concessions in exchange for "quck" upgrades and job security. On the other hand, even the majors scare the poop out of their pilots with threats of concessions or furloughs and liquidation. So, how long will they get away with this? Someday, the dog is gonna bite back.

Hey, it must be nice to have a pension. Good luck to you.
 
My guess is he's on a CRJ or an ERJ. He's probably just a regional F/O who's bored on reserve. Might I remind you of TabExpressF/O, TheGuat, Top-GunMav, Training, 8HourRule, etc...

Probably, flame-bait. Hey, I heard that when Fed-Ex gets the A-380's, Chautauqua is going to start flying cargo-converted E-190's as a FexEx Feeder so that they can start retiring the 727's! :D

Since ABX is doing your heavy checks on the DC-8 in ILN, how come Arrow has to pay cash up front before ABX will start work on them? Is it because you are in immenent threat of going under? I'm sure you'll be the first in line to fly the 190s after Arrow goes T/U!

Hahaha, you never know with airlines, these days! At least there is growth for the forseeable future on the DC-10. If you are looking, email me a resume, your MD-11 experience would be a plus.

The one thing Webster and Riddle and every other school out there fails at is teaching to the industry. Do you think plummers school only teaches you about pipes? No it teaches you how to get a job.....and keep it.

You guys looking at shinny new a/c and willing to work for Freedom and Go Jets are the reason why this industry is going to shiit. It's nice to fly a shinny new jet. It's nice to love what you do. But for god sake, professionals get paid to do what they do. Get a few years flying the line and you'll understand.

Then why did you take a job ( or more likely bought a job ) at the then CoEx, which was one of the lowest paying bottom feeder commuters at the time?

I've come to terms that its not all about "kittens and f'in sunshine." But all some people do is complain. CFI is hard and the pay is crap but I do it because I love it. :D

Sure we love to fly.. but fly a sWEET looking plane for peanuts? I could really care less if I was flying a 747 or a 172. I fly for a paycheck.
