This is directly from the horse's mouth!

"Thought everyone would enjoy seeing this! (Name) hopes to take off this Wednesday from PHX with Kunpeng Airlines (our joint venture) commencing service September 16th from Xian, China. Xian is considered one of the most historic cities in China and is home to the “terracotta soldiers.” The whole “China Team” and our partners at Shenzhen Airlines have done a remarkable job putting this project together – thank you! It is our plan to have 20 aircraft in service prior to the summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008. Ultimately our Chinese partners believe the airline will require approximately 200 aircraft – basically the same size as Mesa! Please join me in wishing Mike and his crew a safe trip. Have a great week, Jonathan"

For all of you that are still considering coming to this sweatshop you better think long and hard. This place is a sinking ship that is about to be towed to China.

it's their only chance to at least be at the top of the pay charts relative to the rest of the country.

I think alt of it has to do with them trying to scare mesa into agreeing to another crap contract. Hopefully not but i wouldn't put anything past johnny crapo

China....

Let's send Chuck Norris! He would straighten out about a billion of those losers without even breaking a sweat!

-Chuck Norris is so damn tough, he uses battery acid instead of mouthwash!

Rumor has it that all crews going to china will be sent thru IAD for training on dealing with the language issues and slow service Good luck mesa youll need it !!

Of course the crews will be required to jumpseat to China because JO will not provide them with moving expenses or travel. You thought getting to Hawaii was tough. Wait till you are on your own to Shanghai.

He could get another crap contract and it still wouldn't matter - there's a shortage and pay will need to go up, if you want to attract newhires. No longer will it be all about captain pay - regionals will also start looking at the bottom of the payscales, as they'll need to attract those guys amidst increasing competition from other airlines.
UAL has had it with MESA and they are moving more of their flying to SkyWest, RAH and anybody else who can do it - lowering the payscales won't reverse the trend.
As Tilton told one of our captains on the ORD-ABQ run: "you need the low end operators to an extent".
Not referring to the crews, but the JOs and HKs of this world. Once Tilton leaves UAL, there will be a new emphasis on quality and MESA will be no more.

Didn't United get "fed up" with Mesa in the 90s, and swore, "never again!" ?????

But as things turned out, Mesa is once again flying as United Express.

I have to admit that JO is one creative SOB. First he came up with the whole Freedom Air thing to run a hard core whipsaw...

Now he actually created a situation where he can make a credible threat to send planes to China... Really pretty wild...
