"One, we operate smaller aircraft, which are, by definition, more efficient than larger aircraft. Anything that's smaller is less risk. I think Bob Crandall said you never go out of business flying an airplane that's too small."

"I don't think it's a surprise, and I will say this publicly, that America West (AWA:NYSE - commentary - research) probably had the best results of any of the hub network carriers. One, they had some of the lowest costs, and two, they had the highest proportion of regional jets to mainline jets than any other carrier."

"I have a very strong belief that the regional jets work remarkably well in hub operations, supporting mainline flying."

"Look at what Atlantic Coast is doing and, as I said in my conference call, I can't say I'm not a bit envious."

Jonathan Ornstein - Taken from an article on The Street 08/09/03

Hmm, kind of sounds like Independence Air's strategy. Use RJ's to feed narrowbody aircraft. Hub network out of IAD.

I guess J.O. was so envious, he just couldn't take it anymore.

Independence Air just might be the best airline that this industry has ever seen.

I might be a touch biased thogh.;)

Gee...anybody remember peoples express. I think Indy Air may bit a little bit to late of a player in this game. We are already seeing and over abudance of lowcost carriers.

Comparing People Express and Indy is like apples and pencil lead. Completely unrelated!

People Express went out due to poor management, low cash reserves, and excessive growth. Not to mention the overwhelming competition.

Indy has now$230mil+ and $300mil by April '04. By contrast JetBlue had $140mil and only three acft on launch. Indy will have immediately 87+CRJ's and possibly 3 or 4 of the 25+ A319/320's they have ordered on day one.

What new airline entity has ever started with so much immediate positioning?

My $.02

Later guys.

I think it'll work... it'll be a tough road, but it'll work.

I'd rather "die" trying to make this happen than be stuck under UAL/Mesa's umbrella for the next god knows how long... I think I can speak for about 4600 other people that agree with that. It would be a shame for the shareholders not to take into consideration the will of the employees when they cast their vote. It's their vote to cast, but they have to understand if the employee group is not motivated (MESA), their shares will be worthless in due time.

It should be obvious to the entire industry at this point that if Johnny Scumbagstein is successful in acquiring ACA that success will be short-lived.

The ACA pilots will burn the whole mother-f'ing operation down.

Count on it.

That's my expectation.. not that I would do anything of the sort, of course, but that is what I feel would happen in short order.

probably a stupid question, but are you keeping your jumpseat recips when you change over? Is Airnet on there? Thanks.

I hope that Indy Air works, I really do. There are a lot of good people at ACA right now and I'd hate to see anything negative happen to any of them.

However, I left ACA in the summer after working there for three years. I decided to go to a major/LCC (not my first choice) after looking at the potential consequences of ACA attempting the LCC thing.

Who knows, maybe I'll look back at my decision and realize it was the bad one, however I'm still happy I decided to jump ship.

Can ACA/Indy make it? Of course they can. Can UAL attempt to sqwash ACA and make their life a living hell for years to come? Of course they can. The LCC market is a lot tougher than ACA guys can even imagine, trust me.

hope is in the air....

I hope Independance Air works. Because if it does air Wiskey will pick up a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** load of flying:D

I was the last class furloughed (September 2002) The last 9 J-41's they added on at the end. If they do not do the next round of furloughs then I am #2 to get recalled.
We'll see...
Lex :)
