Whew, thank goodness my car doesn't run on Perrier. It seems to prefer Bourbon lately...Perrier bottled water still cost more than gasoline. How do we explain that?
The white man!Ben Franklin said:Who is to blame for the price of oil?
China and India. It is the developing countries that are drastically increasing consumption.Peleton said:China. Those guys are sucking down raw materials at a faster rate that us. The world is producing the same but with China's economic revolution in full gear we have an old supply v demand problem. Check out the price of concrete now a days due to the demand in China. The price of steel is high due to China. All raw goods are up due to the demand in China, When supplies are low the price goes up.
Or better yet, we could stop all EMB-135/45 flights with less than 30 people on routes like CLE-BUF, or CLE-ROC for example.LJDRVR said:The fat, bloated, SUV driving hogs in this country. Entitled whales who drive a 6000 pound SUV the 1/4 mile from their house to McDonalds so they can drive up in air-conditioned comfort and get their "food".
Look at some of the graphs: the amount of petroleum that China and India will consume is far more than we could conserve.Weasil said:Yeah instead of blaming India and China why not try to reduce the demand. Buy a hybrid instead of a H2 next time. Anyway... fuel is very cheap in the US compared to the rest of the world. In europe people drive fuel efficient cars because gas is $4/gallon. So maybe rising prices will force us all to be more fuel efficient anyway. GOOD!
And as for Anwar... it is a hoax. There is not enough oil in Anwar to make much of a difference anyway. The annual US consumption of oil is about 100 times what is in Anwar.
I'm not talking about trying to conserve enough to account for developing countries. I'm talking about reducing our own reliance on fossil fuels because it needs to happen and not blaming other countries for our problems. The US is by far the largest consumer in the world.46Driver said:Look at some of the graphs: the amount of petroleum that China and India will consume is far more than we could conserve.
