I think maybe i've been going at this job search the wrong way. Since I am really only qualified to do one thing, sit in the right seat (ok ya there are the typical time builder jobs, which I have sent resumes and called until I ran up a $300 phone bill)

Who hires right seat people?

I look at it this way, you really only need a right seat person for 135 ops in the clouds carrying pax, or if the plane requires it because of a type rating, or if the customer requests it.

So, does anyone have a list of companies that fall into the catagory. Ok, and someone who will take on a 650 hour pilot, but who would commit for a significant period if training was involved, and does't require me to pay for the training.

Not to much to ask I suppose ;)

Stop flying while you can and make money somewhere else. Hard times rite now. When people look at the extra cost of a co-pilot they decide to go with one. If you find something make damb well sure you have something else to do wherever you end up. But hey, thats only my opinion!!!!!!!! Peace!!!!!!!!!

Since we're already off-topic ... anyone know what's required for a single-pilot exemption on the 1900D, and what insurance would probably require? I know there are some freight operators using them SP and I assumed it would require something like an ATP, a few hundred hours turbine multi and maybe 500 or so in type? Also, anyone know if an SP exemption is possible for pax ops in the 1900 under part 91?

Can't tell you exactly for the 1900 but my company flies similar craft single pilot w no autopilot. The only thing different on the plane is a heading and altitude bug to remind you of where youneed to be. They get around the autopilot substitued for SIC reg. by having an STC to fly them this way.
As far as insurance requirements we really have no established minimums but the insurance company reviews the pilots qualifications anually an charges the company based on that.

Back on topic there was a listing a few weeks back of DC3, Convair and other freight operators..however with the current demand for pilots and little on-demand freight biz, dont be to disapointed if they dont call. Good luck anyway though.

Yes it is.

The only companies (that I can think of) that hire so called "right seat" people at the bare minimum flight times (other than the odd corporate operation) would be regional carriers, and by the looks of it you're only half way there in terms of flight time. So look to build PIC time instead, flying as a flight instructor or whatever you can to build time, particularly multi-engine time.

Who's hiring right seaters?
Answer: Those companies that require two pilots. TIP...Don't PAY FOR TRAINING....BAD MONKEY....you'll be scared for life. You might as well be a scab.
 
Airnet has rightseaters in the Lear. Last I heard they also had a rightseat program for the pistons if you lacked the 1200tt for part 135 mins. Don't remember if that was pft, but if it is... run far, far away!
 
Glad to see there are other guys out there that are trying to keep the young and up comming guys away from PFT. I can't stress it enough to these guys that are trying to get into this field that PFT is not the way to go!!

A note to all you low time guys out there. Only fly for a pay check, don't sell yourself out to these crap companies that want you to pay them to give you a job! If you have to, do something else for awhile until the industry comes back around, then they will be hiring people with 350 hours and paying them for every minute that you are in the airplane or in training. Don't sell yourself out, you will always regret it and you will lose the respect of a lot of guys out there that worked thier way to the top. The same guys that will probably be your Captian when you are in that right seat.
