In a continuing demonstration of my total ignorance of corporate aviation, if I wanted to find out which companies fly which airplane types, is there a place I could look where it's broken down that way ?

I see references to an NBAA directory. Is that available online or is it a paper book ? I can't find it online. Thx.

There is a book out there that lists the registered owner of every aircraft. Its sorted a bunch of ways (aircraft type, tail number, company name, country of registration). I can't remember the name, but I beleive its made by a European company. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I've seen it at some pilot shops too.

You have to be a member of NBAA to get the book (unless you buy / borrow one from someone).

There are several books that list tail numbers and give company names, but little other contact info.

Easiest way to begin searching is AvHay.com, mid-page left side, type in registration number or company name and it will spit the info out for you (owners name, address, etc.). It's not much, but a beginning.

Thanks for the info, guys. Here's the deal: I'm a retired major guy and thought I'd try applying to the corp operators who fly the same acft types I used to fly at the airline. I KNOW IT'S A WAY WILD SHOT...so don't jump on me...I'm old and touchy !!!

I thought that if, for example, I could find a list of corp 727 operators I'd fire off a round of resumes and see what happens. If it's like the other resumes I've sent out, I already know what'll happen. But, it's worth a shot. Any advice ?

Thanks again for replying to the original post.

The book that has all owners and types flown is called "Biz-Jets and Turboprops 2004". You can get it by going to www.buchair.com. Its kind of fun to take on the road and see who owns what. Only draw back is it does not have address or phone # of the owner. I guess you could do some research and come up with the needed into, but it seems like a lot of owners register with a different name or some sort of LLC to divert attention from who really owns it. I know the company I work for did it. Think it was for tax or liability issues.

That's the one I was thinking of.

Val,

Thank you very much.

Isn't there a link on the FAA website you can check registration by city and state? I thought I'd seen one. Anyone know where to find that?

Discovered you can Google the N-number itself and get to the FAA registry.

Problem is, in many cases, FAA registration lookup only tells you who the owner is - NOT the operator. Its very common to see leased airplanes out there, with registered owners like Wells Fargo, etc.

Many companies seem go out of their way to conceal ownership, or form separate entities which "own" the airplane.
