Hey everyone, I'm starting class at skywest soon and wanted to know what type of headsets are recommended. I've got an ancient pair of H10-40's that I use to instruct with and I've been meaning to get a replacement in general. I figure I can kill two birds with one stone if I get something compatable with the Brasilia. I was thinking of the David Clark 13.4's?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'd stick with your current headset, fly the airplane for a while, and then see what you think.

Most people fly with non-ANR headsets and wear ear plugs.

Just wear your current ones for the first year, see what other pilots are using and make your decision when you get your first pay raise.

I used Lightspeeds when I used to fly it. They
worked great and definitely helped with fatigue
on those long days.

What was that?? Speak up louder!!!! I REALLY DON'T THINK IT MATTERS...YOUR HEARING WILL BE GONE IN A YEAR OR SO!!! WHATS THAT BUZZING NOISE????

Seriously though Limber up your arms...Being a switch beotch on the 120 is fun...elbows n azzholes..

Dave Clarks and earplugs work great. Most people take the headsets off and use the speaker in cruise. The cockpit is pretty quit compared to most turboprops.

Don't worry about it. You will have plenty of time to talk with your captain about his opinions when you get flying. The EMB120 is a very simply a/c to fly.

"400 feet, v2+20, flaps up, auto pilot 'on'"
"so captain, what kind of headset do you like?"

Now it's more like 1000 feet for flap retraction and no AP below1500.

After a couple of 1000 hours in the mighty EMB I think it's time for the Bose ANR's. DC's and ear plugs work OK but I think you're less fatigued at the end of the day with ANR. There seem to be some impedance differences in headsets that result in a lot of unwanted noise when using the hot mic.
