There is a *small* chance I will be relocating to the VaBeach/ORF area in the next few months and I don't know much about the area. I was wondering what are some good locations places to live. I'm looking for a single bedroom apartment or maybe a small condo/townhouse/home under 150K (in a safe area) that doesn't have too much traffic and won't be buzzed by F-18s every 15 minutes (if that is even possible). It is preferable to be within 20-30min from ORF but beggars can't be choosers...

Thanks!

Sorry to break it to you buddy; but, this is a pipe dream.
That area is overpriced, and to be in a safe place you're going to have to break the bank a little more. The traffic part is the same, it takes at least an hour to get to anywhere in the "seven cities"; there is a slight bridge/tunnel problem. As far as being out of the "Naval flying circus" path, that is actually possible.
Tell you what...PM me, I'll get you in touch with some friends over there that might be able to help out, or at least explain you some of the economical dynamics of the region.

If you want to stay out of the navy flight paths and live close to the airport to avoid traffic your best bet is the Chic's Beach area. It's a great area away from the tourists, very local. You can find decent deals at or near the beach. You really have to look to find them, though. It is overpriced and a condo under 200,000 is out of the question. You pay for location. It's situated on the bay and you avoid the interstate. Airport access is achieved down North Hampton, which at its busiest is not too bad. Ten minute drive to the airport.
