Someone posted some good sites to by nice sturdy (laminated?) checklists...can someone direct me to those?

I really want to have my own Preflight checklist in my bag because the one in my FBO's C-152 is falling apart and just a pain to deal with.

Have you thought about sitting down and writing your own so that (1) you can include more detail on those procedures that your have a little trouble with that aren't covered, (2) so that the layout is one that makes it easier for you to use and (3) that forces you to wonder why certain things are there so you look them up in the POH and learn more about the airplane?
 
I agree with Mark as well. Most of my students have went out and bought there own airplanes, and they didn't have checklists with them. So we'll sit down and go thru the POH and create our own. It gives both of us a real intimate knowledge of the checklists, and also helps you understand better why some stuff needs to be added, and others taken out.

Another student of mine just recently purchased a checklist from these guys, and they work great. Unlike CheckMate (?) they dont add a lot of fluff to their checklists, so it gives you all the information you need and nothing more. The single-page laminated checklists has all the V-speeds, Power Settings, as well as Emergency Procedures on the back.

Well...do these have a PREFLIGHT checklist?

All the V speeds and emergency procedures are needed, but I also need just simply PREFLIGHT and run-up steps.
 
They got them all.

Although the preflight part (meaning examination of the airplane on the ground for airworthiness) almost universally suc.... er, is almost universally inadequate. That includes the one in the POH itself included. In the typical GA piston, I can almost guarantee that I can set up an obvious unworthy condition that you will miss if you follow a checklist rather than a look-touch-move-examine-question flow.
 
Yes, the ones I was referring to do have the preflight, and they hit on all the major points. However, I'm sure these weren't taken straight out of the POH, cause it's a bit on the generic side. It also has the Runup check listed as "Before Takeoff"

Here's what the Cherokee 140 checklist has for a preflight:

PREFLIGHT (Interior)
W&B Performance - Complete
AROW Documents - Onboard
MASTER - ON
Fuel Gagues - Checked
Lights / Flaps - Check
Ignition / Mags - Off
Master - Off

PREFLIGHT (External)
Locks / Chains / Chocks - Removed
Fuel Sumps - Drain
Fuel Tank / Quantity - Inspect
Rivets / Skins / Doors - Check
Flaps / Ailerons / Rudder - Check
Tires / Brakes / Struts - Inspect
Oil - Check
Prop - Inspect
Landing Light / Nav Lights - Inspect
Pitot / Static - Inspect

The excercise of producing your own checklist also helps if you fly different aircraft. In my case, I have created checklists for each aircraft model I fly; each checklist is structured the same, uses the same vernacular, and follows similar "cockpit flows", when appropriate.

These checklists include interior/exterior preflight lists, "operational" lists, and emergency lists.

Mark and I have agreed on this in the past--the greatest value of personal checklists is the process of creating them.

Make your own, then take it to Staples to have laminated. It costs a buck.
