My CFII had a really nice knee board that seem to work really well for him. It was about 12x7. The clip on the right side of the board was at the top, and there was a clip on the left side of the board. It was nice because you could put your approach plate on the left side of the clip board and a pad of papper on the right side. You could flip it around if your left handed. He doesnt remember where he bought his. If anyone has any idea where to find one i would appriciate it. Thanks

Thanks guys, ive herd all the jokes before. Ive tryed sportys and couldnt find what i was looking for. Ill just have to keep an eye open for it.

Use a standard "clip board", get'em at Walmart's or anywhere for change. Been using 'em forever.

Sounds like the one I have!

It works great and the x country flight planning logs are easy to use. They also include a place for notes and your VFR/IFR flight plan.

I use a larger than standard clipboard. Put some velcro on the bottom to help prevent sliding. Then you can use detachable clips to secure your plates or small notepad. I also wrote the local COMM/NAV. FREQ. on little stickers and placed those on the board. If you are real creative you can also place a couple small velcro strips along the side(the board being bigger than standerd and turned side ways on your lap), then take a couple pencils or pens and wrap them with the other type of velcro and they can be placed on the board. This makes it convenient when you have to copy down ATC directions. Hope this makes sense. Oh, also I put velcro on the clip itself to attach the timer! Velcro is so useful.

Got my IFR clipboard at Staples, it cost $3.95 (just yer basic plastic clipboard) and it works better than anything else I've tried. I also carry an ASAtri-fold kneeboard just to keep all my crap together, but I don't use it for writing on and I don't attach it to myself.

Thanks for the info guys, i think the regular clip board is going to do just find. With some velcro for the timer and a pad of paper ill be just fine. Saves me $30. Thanks guys.
