Hi all. I am determined to start on my PPL sometime next year. I know quite a bit about aviation in general and have been an avid flight simmer for at least 5 years.
I know very well that a dummy can't fly a real plane and no matter how much I think I know about flying, I need to start where everyone else does.
However, I am confused on where I should actually attend a certified flight school or not. Someone told me that formal schooling is not necessary, which I have always thought that is how everyone attains their certificate to fly.
I am a recent member of the EAA and was wondering if joining the local chapter here at KAPF would be a good first step. I know it sounds like an obvious question, but I am not too familiar with how these things work.
Any comments, questions, suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
