I thought a job with a 135 in Alaska would be a sweety job. I hear alot about Alaska fly since I work for Alaska Airlines, but in SF. So my question, all these companies want you to have Alaska time. How do you get it? Or is this the Alaskans way off keep jobs in state? ASSFO

Flight instructing is probably the easiest. Otherwise, there are companies that will hire you as an SIC. I needed 100 hours AK to meet insurance mins for the company I worked for. I flew as SIC for about a month and then moved into the left seat. Half the battle is the move up there and finding a job. Make sure you're up for it. It's a big place, and its a long way from SF and the rest of the US... It isn't for everyone. You will either love it or hate it. If you enjoy the SF thing...ie, your not an outdoorsy person, you like the big city... you may want to think hard about the move...most of the recreational activities revolve around being outside regardless of the calender month. Otherwise, good luck. The flying is the best and the people are great as well...
