and tells them their son or daughter is dead do they face any legal punishment? This happend to a friend of mine today, and to complicate things the caller may have been Iraqi. I'm sure this has happend to other families, do they have any recourse?

If not, they should. I don't normally approve of the internet bullying that goes on, but if names and addresses of jerks that do things like that could be made public, then game on.

IF it were an Iraqi....not much you can do. I would tell every military member out there to monitor your internet use. If you're in the military, you shouldn't have a myspace, a facebook, or an internet homepage. I see lots of dudes in the military who post pics of their house, their kids, their dogs, their wives, etc. If it's easy to find you on a google search, then anyone can find you and use it against you. Think about that.

Don't want to sound paranoid - but do some research online. If memory serves this happened in England and it turns out there were terrorists or those involved with them that were conducting this phone calls.
If that is the case I might call the Cops and FBI just to give them a heads up. Might be fun to see Akhmend's pizza joint get busted up one night for his prank calls.
