ALPA sucks. First they signed the 170 LOA, stole the bond fund from the junior pilots and didn't go berzerk when the company parked 100 jets only to let the teens fly our routes. The idiots allowed the outsource express side to fly 100% of our entire mainline block hours, not 100% of domestic only. F'ing STUPID. Time to get an in house union and time for my dues to stop supporting barbie jets

Its simple, ALPA sold us then signed off on our current contract or lack thereof.

That's some elaboration there.

Remember, ALPA is an association. Not a national union. You are only as good as your MEC, and your airline membership puts those people there. So when you say ALPA sucks, what you are saying is......................."I don't go to meetings, I don't want to be involved. Can't someone else do it so I can complain later?"

Get involved, or shut up. It's really that simple.

+1. I couldn't have said it better!!

Exactly; a merger. The planes say United, but it is most certainly a Continental paint scheme. A merger of equals, no buyout.

Equals????

UA 747 26 CO 747 0 UA 26 more
UA 777 52 CO 777 22 UA 30 more
UA 767 26 CO 767 35 UA 9 more
UA 757 62 CO 757 97 UA 35 more

Total UA 100 More Widebodies

Now I will admit does have more narrow bodies but equals??? Not quite

Now you can argue that Co is closer to having the 787 than UA was however when that precious "snapshot" that all of the "relative seniority fans" love to talk about was taken, the 2 airlines were not equals.

Can you explain how having 100 more those type aircraft at UAL means anything other than 100 more of those type of aircraft in the big scheme of things? CAL has 242 more 737's than UAL. So what? You really think that means that UAL has an upper hand in an SLI, is better than CAL because it flies aircraft with more seats, is better because it has a bigger pilot rank? Please. You should be the first to admit it's what's negotiated on either side. How much more does a UAL WB pilot need to reach what a CAL pilot makes flying a smaller aircraft? Next thing you know you'll be pulling the "brain surgeon" ******************** of our your azz again.

You guys have WAY MORE CRJ-700's too. Nice job! Would you like some extra-credit in the SLI for those frames too? That was sneaky! I have to admit, I never thought that rolling over on scope would help with the SLI but you guys have our a$$es kicked when it comes to "widebody" RJ's.

Guess what CAL boys and girls, we're screwed!

If the number 1 UAL furloughee were at CAL he/she'd be a line holding Captain right now, instead.....they're hoping for a recall to CAL.....yup, equals.

I didn't know eagles lived under rocks? How's the view from down there?

Well, I'm furloughed UAL and really NOT hoping for a CAL recall. Let me see, flying with a bunch of CAL Captains who are really pissed just to see me on their property? No thanks.

I guess I would have been a lineholder right now at CAL ,with my UAL date of hire, but I chose the wrong airline in 2000. You think you're about to get screwed? Pretty much every CAL guy hired after me will be put ahead of me.

We're all gonna get screwed. Some a little worse than others. Mergers always suck.

I can't fathom any reason why any CAL Captain would be displeased to see you on property. If and when UAL pilots are recalled to CAL, it will be after all CAL furloughees have returned. They'll be no hard feelings. You guys would be welcomed here, but either way, if the company needs to increase staffing they'll find guys to do it.

I suspect it will be UAL guys in the end but that's for ALPA and the company to sort out. Good luck with your choice. If you chose to come to CAL, you'll be welcomed here without reservation.

Ah ditto ATR. Any CAL capt that would be p!ssed to have you around deserves a mass blanket party in the parking lot. Quite frankly even with the viled threat of capacity reductions, CAL needs bodies NOW. Unfortunately Boss Fred won't allow that to happen which is going to make for a fascinating summer.
