Anyone been to those ridiculous G gates? It looks like Home depot had a sale on sheds so they decided to use them for a new terminal, to impress all those visiting the capital of the free world.
I think the employees may have been thrown in as a bonus too. Don't get me wrong, the C-gate rampies are the best. These G-gate guys though, what's this half-loading an a/c and then disappearing? ....with all the carry-ons on the bottom?

Whats up druglord. Man I had to go to the G gates at IAD my last trip. They suck balls. The bottom 1 foot of the wall is open air...concrete floor. UAL went all out man. Also the ramppies are awesome. Take 45 min to get us pax then another 45 min to get pax count then another 20 min to get bag count and like 5 of them almost got into a fight at the bottom of the stairs. And to top it off it was after midnight. Also no food at the G gates so you gotta take the bus to the C gates.

I was getting scared...

I haven't seen you guys in a while. DL, I'll call you later to see where you'll be hiding on Tuesday. I gotta get out and see how the real world works.

Part of Rockland was a triple wide last time I was there :)

my vacation? the one to oz? Great! especially when you can go for free. Long way to go for 4 days though. Have to make the next one LV.

How was your vacation?

It was a blast. I highly recommend Italy to anyone who can make it. Monte Carlo was way overpriced, but still fun. I kept thinking that I've seen most of this stuff already in Vegas.

So true

You get to go to Italy and my wife drags me on a road trip to Wyoming today.. 7 states left and she's been to them all.

Good Ol Wyoming. Best part of the state is Yellowstone/Jackson Hole, the rest of the state is dull boring and full of rednecks that dont know how to drive......

Speaking of which anyone know if Cheyenne Frontier Days started yet?

The glass fingers on the gates do not touch the ground for a reason. It all has to do with tax rates. If the glass touched the ground the space enclosed inside would then be taxed at a higher rate, since it does not it is legaly classified as an open space thus less tax per square feet of useable space. ACA's A gates were the first gates to use this lophole in IAD, and it looks like UAL has copied it.

Now I have heard that there is no running water inside, is that true? I have not had the time to visist the new gates.

Sounds to me like you got some of the F gate PHL rampers. Maybe they finaly fired some of them up there and they found there way down to you.

Still the best has to be when they half load a plane and then all run off because it is shift change. Or my number one PHL experance was when we got there, called ops for some rampers to guide us in and quote there reply was "It will be just a minute there is only 58 seconds left in the game" IE super bowl sunday.

Imported rampers from the 3rd world down there in IAD. Just about every one of 'em would raise an eyebrow of a dilligent INS agent. I had heard the reaon the 'fingers' are not enclosed fully is so they didn't have to pay extra for the sprinkler system and other fire supression devises required by code of modern buildings. I haven't been there for a few weeks, but are others besides the saab drivers using those crappy gates?

We don't call it the Ghetto Gates cause it looks like Frankfurt Airport Center 2 (FAC2)

I wish I had it so good. I do a lot of air ambulance flights to reservations and other unmaintained rural facilities. After landing on a 3000x60 runway that has no fence I taxi onto the gravel ramp and shut down. The "pilot lounge" usually consists of a dingy yellow and brown mattress someone has discarded right next to the runway or ramp.

In the fingers as I heard someone else call it I didnt see any running water at all. In the other part of the G gates there was a bathroom so I hope it has running water. And nope its not just Saabs there anymore. The G gates was home to ERJs, CRJs, and Saabs when I was there. The rampers are awesome. They claimed to be short handed but almost 20 of them were hanging out at the empty gate next to us and with the wx that day and ground delays Im sure they were overworked all day, but you think they would try to get the last plane of the night out asap so they could go home since it was pushing 1am and we were still on the gate. Although I was looking forward to the ramper rumble when I started hearing arguing, but it never got past that...oh well.

Interesting... I haven't had bad luck with the rampers in "the fingers". It's the REST of the "Dulles Experience" that is so godawful.

The gate agents have been both nice and helpful, and the rampies... Well, maybe they DO need a little coaching and perhaps a little "rah-rah team" to get 'em going, but at least they haven't been ACTIVELY slow or incompetent like an unfortunate number of rampies in another hub I can think of...

Give 'em some credit, they can SEEM like they are trying.

At least that's been my experience, keeping in mind I've only been in and out of there a dozen times or so.
