If united files ch 11, what does that meen for all the regionals that are carrying for united. Especially skywest. Would the up the commuter just pick the route under there company name. For skywest, will they pick up a new carrier.
 
If UAL files Chap. 11, they will still be flying and it will be business as usual for United Express.
 
UAL will Stall, spin, and end in a fiery crash. (Just kidding)

The UAX carriers will continue to operate as normally, for a while at least. United will put pressure on its UAX carriers to reduce their rates however the UAX carriers all have 10 year contracts from about the year 2000. If the UAL decides, and the bankruptcy court agrees, to break these contracts in Ch 11 then it is anybody's guess as towards what would happen. Delta could choose to increases SkyWest and ACA's DCI flying and Air Wis would have more planes to offer Air Tran. Each Air Wis, ACA and Sky West have operated on their own before under their own logo's so that is another distinct possibility.

However I believe that what will really happen if UAL files for Ch 11 is that they will not abrogate the UAX contracts. They will take as many RJ's as their pilots will allow. The big change to the regionals would be the loss of groth to new cities that UAL/UAX does not already serve as well as a few UAX destinations being discarded. UAL will transfer more domestic mainline flying out of ORD, DEN and LAX to the UAX carrriers as well as turning over many of those stations ( like they did with HPN, CID and EUG) over to the UAX carriers. SFO and IAD are mostly international and long haul with most of the shorter domestic flying already done by UAX.

If the contract with the pilots is abrogated, which is very unlikely because the UAL pilots are smart enough to negotiate rather than lose total control, the scope clause would be dead. There would be opportunities for 70 and 90 seaters as well as more 50 seaters. However, I do not think that this is a battle that UAL wants to fight right now
 
Sky West will become all jet and start flying old mainline routes then purchase Great Lakes to overhaul them and make their commuter/turboprop operator...

That would be crazy! Skywest probably has enough cash on hand to do it and spend just a small portion... Mind you this is pure fiction for entertainment purpoes only.
