Every point you score above 70 (passing) is a waste. No need to study too hard.

Why is it that all the people who say that have sucky scores? :D

Just playin'

Skeezer

92

It depends upon the examiner but typically I've found the pain of oral exams to be inversely proportional to written scores. :D

The above statement is very true; do well on your written and your oral exam w/ the examiner may not be so grueling.

96
I'm a real good guesser.

In regards to the oral exam being easier if you do better on the written, I'm not so sure. I scored below 90% on both the private and instrument writtens, yet the oral exams for both those checkrides were significantly shorter and easier than i expected. Definitely couldn't describe either one as grueling. Maybe I just got lucky.

There is this nice program that helps you score higher from this company:

http://www.dauntless-soft.com/

But the Gleim or the Jepp does it too. I prefer the Jepp but I have used both and the software just because I had time I guess.

Actually I am not even sure if I have used the software for the private but I got 97 for private, 96 for instrument and 94 for comm written. Yeah there is a trend :D

It was probably a waste of time to try to score high and I always get pissed when they never tell me the questions I screwed because I always went in there that I thought I knew it all.

I can also tell you like others have that this software or any studying for the computer test will not make the oral easier. Some questions will never ever come up on the oral at all and if they do you will need to have a deeper understanding than just the ability to pick the most familiar sentence... which is very easy. I myself can't understand why there is a multiple choice test when you will also need to go through a 2-3h long oral. What is the point?

Wow, your DE must have had connections with the devil. I'd venture to say my oral exams were 45 minutes to an hour at most (not including paperwork and administrative stuff). And these were from different examiners in different parts of the country.

you kidding? My shortest was 2h which was the private oral. The longest so far was between 3-4h which was the instrument end of course. I have heard for the CFI you need to bring canned food and go pills :D. But on the other hand I will have my 1st ever FAA check ride tomorrow for the commercial so all my experience is based on DCA in house exams and stage checks only.

87% and proud of it. Every point you score above 70 (passing) is a waste. No need to study too hard.

Quite a few DEs will drill you during the Oral, and during the ride if you got a just barely passing score.

me toooooo... fun stuff. I am thinking of digging up some videos but I couldn’t find any so far.

BTW I got my commercial FAA ride done today and passed it... barely... what a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ty performance it was. I felt embarrassed :(

Anyways to my surprise the oral took me about 1-1.5 hours. The whole oral and the ride was very different from the stage checks. My end of course stage flight took 2.4h and this ride which was supposed to be the same took only 1.7h and I was on the high end, for some students it only took 1.3h and 1.4h. Wow! The DE was trying to save me money during the whole deal. Amazing... it was a very nice and easygoing guy. After the ride I am sure he will try to memorize my name (which is a challenge) so he can avoid me during my commercial carrier.

Try Amazone.ca or something like that. It is Amazone in Canada. You might find there French versions with english subtitles or maybe all english.:)

Provate

I got a 72%. What a waste... that's two percent more than I needed to know.

PS... Check your certificate (if you got one) and perhaps it's spelled "Private".
