What type of job should a guy like me realistically expect to be able to get in today's aviation job marker?

All military turbine (Jets and props)
1700 TT
1000 PIC
750 Instructor
ATPw

I am interested in both corporate and airlines, but probably more so corporate. And I am willing to move anywhere except the Northeast and California (only because of cost of living... so if a $100,000 job is available, then sign me up :) )

I just want to know where my expectations should be.

Thanks

With your times, unless you have an in, I would look towards the regionals or perhaps the few decent airlines that are hiring to build time while starting to make contacts in the coprorate world.

Very rarely does one walk into a flight department and get a job without contacts or corporate expirence. Since you do not have expirence in corporate, then contacts are your next best chance. Put on a shirt and tie and start introducing yourself. Make appointments with Most Flight Department Managers. A Flight Department Manager with any sort of personality will at least take the time to talk to you.

Another thing to consider is the Fractional route. You will then have expirence in A/C types. Not sure what their mins are or the Military/Civilian conversion factor is.

Are you going to stay on in the Reserves? There is a whole other thread about that sticky subject.

I am not trying to be pessimestic, just trying to be a realist.

Good luck to you.

Sorry but unless you have 2500tt you can't apply to NJ.

I'd recomend going to work for a 135 operator and building time, and squeezing a type out of them.

Staying in the reserves? Don't even bother going corp, or charter. Fractionals will work with you but like I said you don't even have the time.

A quality corporate department will work with the reserves. My Pop worked with guys at Shell that flew helo's in the reserves while flying.

1700TT.

wants to be a corporate pilot

wont consider living in the Northeast or California.

good luck marketing that!

want to be competitive for the better openings in todays market? -- get your time up to around 5000TT, get a few type ratings in corporate aircraft - preferably larger cabin (GIV,GV,GLEX,DA900) get a little International PIC time, etc...
