Howdy all,

Just curious, as a civilian, what the proper attire is while taking these tests. The email I got from the folks administering the test sent me an email which mentioned to "wear military uniform while testing." Should I be good to go with some nice slacks and a polo? Less than a month to go to the tests, time to start studying some more!

Thanks.

If your active duty enlisted military; wear uniform. If you are a civ; wear slacks and a polo.
Good Luck!

I think "casual business" would be appropriate. Something like nice slacks, a button down shirt and leather shoes.

.....

I wore shorts, a polo, and my sperry loafers........no one ever looked at what I was wearing.......did they keep those rooms in bloomington hot/noisy on purpose?............?.......

I was enlisted when I took mine and I did not wear a uniform.
No Pay = No Uniform!!

That said, I would wear what I wore for both, flip-flops, sweats and a baggy hoody. The more comfortable the better. I don't think the Capt at the ROTC department was to impressed, when I came in for the BAT, but whatever I was not under his control so who cares. BTW....I wouldn't recomend drinking to much the night before the TBAS if it is anything like the BAT. I still scored well but it freakin sucked! I knew it wouldn't be good when I scheduled that for a Friday morning at the college I went to!

Last I heard is that they want you to go to the local Army Navy store and purchase the appropriate military uniform for the service you plan on entering. There is a section on the AFQT where the facilitator of the test will grade you on military appearance. No kidding! If you buy the dress uniform it increases your chance of getting a better score. They also look for the spit shined shoes...no pattent leather fake shinny shoes allowed.

Good Luck

:D Nice

Nice attitude.

Nice attitude.

I thought so too!!! I have been told that a good attitude will take you a long way in the military. :D

Chill turbo, that Capt checks this site out every once in a while, I figured he'd read it and post something back to me. Good dude, former crewdawg as well.
As far as the uniform, there is no reason to wear it. We are not even required to wear them when we take our CDC's so why wear it to a BAT test that is on my college campus.

The only way your attire will affect your score is if you pass out half way though the test 'cause your frickin' tie is too tight. If this happens, they'll also question your G tolerance :D Be warned!

My suggestion is to dress casual. BUT...if you're testing in conjunction (ok, no more big words) with applying to a ROTC detachment, think about who's giving the test and whether they have say in your selection. I wouldn't risk a career because you decided to make a point by wearing crap to the test.

Purple Grape Colored Thong with Matching Boots, hair and nails and a pair of Angel Wings on your back should be do the job! Oh and don't forget to tell them that your gonna vote for Clinton! Oh and I'd get a little stereo and blast some Village People as you enter the room. Remember your 1st impression is your most important!

If it's for the Guard your t-shirt should be dirty and have some reference about beer and women on it. Pants should also be worn. We care about the mission, not uniforms.

If it's AD, then probably something nicer like a polo and "slacks". Make sure they don't have any worn threads hanging from them and don't forget to shine your shoes. However, the most important piece of clothing in the "new" Air Force is your disco belt. You can't leave home without it. You may also want to order some PT uniforms, just to cover all your bases.

Good luck. Relax and you'lle do fine.
