Hello everybody!

I'd like to hear what ya'll have to say about a commute from ANC. Which regional carrier and base is commutable to/from ANC and still have a life?

MAJOR ditto. My wife wanted me to do it. Told her she had a choice, I'd never be home or we move to base.

Where would you be commuting to? In the Summer Delta has two 757/767s to SLC, and one nonstop to ATL. In the Winter, we have two nonstops a day to SLC only. I think NW has three nonstops to MSP and one to DTW in the Summer, and many 747 Cargo flights from ANC, and one nonstop from FAI in the Summer. America West will have an A319 to PHX, UA will probably fly to ORD, SFO and DEN, and AA to DFW. Alaska obviously goes to SEA, PDX , LAX, SFO, and ORD. CO to EWR and SEA. Enjoy! (I am sure I am missing some)

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

Don't have a particular city yet, I'm thinking west coast. BTW, are the 747 cargo flights easy to jumpseat on?
I can't imaging getting on those seasonal flights like EWR, DFW, PHX, etc very easily? They are usually majorly oversold.

I've seen your interest in Skywest. The benefit there is west coast bases and cockpit priveledges in both Delta and United. Horizon would be a good choice because of the Alaska cockpit and there are about a gozillion flights between ANC and SEA at all hours of the day and night.

Sorry, but NWA rules don't allow jumpseating on 747-200 cargo flights unless you are an NWA employee required for the flight, a cargo handler, or security, honor guard, or the like.

Right on, are all SKW bases commutable out of ANC w/out to much problems? I'd guess SLC would be the best commute due to cockpit jumpseat on delta if there isn't room in the back. I'd imagine there is always a JS available? Then the California bases would probably be commutable something like ANC-SLC-.......?
