What is the best way to plot a VFR cross country when

your course takes you to the other side of the map and makes it difficult to shoot a straight line?

On most sectionals the instructions for plotting courses onto the other side are located on the backside of the legend. Some sectionals have these instructions in some obscure location like the LA sectional (located in the ocean). It is entitled "Plotting a direct route on north/south side."
