Been on vacation for awhile (gotta love the seniority). Come back to the pilot's weather room to hear all kinds of smack about -

-Southwest flying to Hawaii out of PHX

-UsAir "dying" within the next two weeks

-AMR expansion in FL

-COPA airlines 737's getting winglets before CAL 737's

-CAL 737's have winglets!!!?!?!

Well, that conversation lasted for about 5 minutes and then I had to go fly a plane for large amounts of cash.

Anyone hear anything about this stuff?

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

I heard the southwest rumor. Someone told me that southwest actually owns the gates that Aloha uses. Talks about a merger there. I dunno if i buy that but with the winglets the 737 can do the route so why wouldnt southwest do it? Its a leasure market that is pretty expensive.

USAir isnt going anywhere.. They are playing this game so they can get concessions. They are still doing VERY well, loads are still very high.

Just my input

That Southwest and Aloha rumor has been out there for years now. It comes and goes like most rumors!!!

Aloha is for sale. Has been for a while now. The SWA rumor has always been pretty logical if SWA wants to change their market. I was skeptical too but I looked at the equiptment they fly (737-700s with winglets) and then the Aloha route map. All the cities AQ services are also SWA destinations. AQ is dropping PHX now as well.

Still, it's just a rumor until you see them in HNL.

This just in from the XJET provisions of the scab free mec.

full time trip loss will go to 85hrs and anyone with a credit card will have to post the bills every month for the pilot group.

Southwest coming to Hawaii. Oh-oh! I got some great locations for building some White Castles! Maybe we should open up Wikkiki beach for trucks to drive on the sand. One more great idea, how about Whales hunting tours.

White Castles? I love those things.....Sliders for all!!!!

You can all calm down, AQ is not for sale.
SW is not interested in buying another airline and the problems that come along with it. Ya, they fly -700s, but SW planes have different avionics.
And if you check your facts you would know that the AQ gate in PHX is in a different terminal. Now if you want to talk about a AQ merger with Virgin, that is adifferent story. Zander and Branson have been seen having dinner together several times....

Oh, and forget about the White Castle, I'm going to corner the burger market in HI when I open up my In&Out Burger!!

SWA is not going anywhere near there, won't happen my friend... They have a business platform that works too well to start changing things up at this point. "If it ain't broke then you don't attempt to fix it".

As far as your US Airways comments, have you not been following this story?. You are painting a picture that is as far from reality as one can come up with. I do not think Bronner is using "scare" tactics just to make the groups cave into more concessions, pay, and benefit cuts. I think ultimately Airways will pull through this but it is as far from a sure bet as it could be. Sept. 30th is going to tell a lot, we shall see.

Suuuure, they're not for sale. That's what Zander wants us to believe. Dinner with Branson? Big deal. I heard he had dinner with Mariah Carey too.

AQ trading their -700s in for A319s to fit in with Virgin? Doubtful.

Be sure to keep us up to date on the In-N-Out Burger franchise. Mmmmmm.....fresh burger.

AQ is looking at different aircraft...we have hired someone to find it for us.

Zander was at the Farnsborough Air Show last month.

The -700 isn't working for us, according to our newest addition in management.

I'd go with the Virgin rumor before the SWA rumor.

In-in-Out? Awesome! I'll open my new Krispy Kreme right next door to you in Waikiki...

Doughnuts and burgers. Nice!

What happened to end the AQ love affair with the -700? They were in love with them for the first few years. Then came the whole winglet thing. Another love affair.

So what's up? And I heard 757 is on the list or candidates.

Actually AQ is getting some A380s... then they can do just one trip per day to each island and get all the PAX there. managment decided it would save a lot on pilot pay, why have pilots do 8-10 RTs per day when you can do just one.

I saw Zander having dinner at Duke's with the guy who's starting the inter-island ferry service. I wonder how you get a type rating on one of those things.

You are most definitely from Texas. What-a-Burger is good but can't touch IN-N-OUT with a 10' pole.

Y'all got sweet tea down there? I miss that stuff.

Having lived in Canada and California and now residing in Texas I have to say(with apologies to JimNtexas), In n Out is the by far the best. Try to order a 4 X 4 at Whataburger!
