Hey everyone, I am curious to know what happened to National Airlines out of LAS. I have been told they launched rite around September 11th, so I dont know if that had anything to do with it (well, I know it had some).

HMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Sorry but did you just return to the planet? They went belly up a few years ago, the plane went to the desert for awhile......then some of them have returned to flight with TMA and others...as for the management well that is up for speculation with the 2 new airlines in LAS "Trying" to start up....

Primarius....

Family Airlines....

DO a search on here you might find more info.....

They went ''bye-bye" quite some time ago, not sure if it was two years but that sounds about right. All leased 75's with the cool paint on the tail...:D Seemed like a good operation but the markets that they were trying to compete in were already over-saturated so being profitable was just not going to happen. As the above poster has mentioned atleast two are trying to start up now out of LAS. I am pretty sure the Project Roam guy realized that LAS was probably going to give him a better chance than PIT. All speculation at this point but so I have heard is that he is behind the one of the two out there.

Air San Diego, look for em in 07:D

National Airlines..

Some of you MIGHT remember the OLD National Airlines. I can remember flying on them as a kid out of PNS years ago. This was back in the late 60's, early 70's. Some of you might remember. The had the big smiling sun logo on the tail.

That's the National that I remember.

Recently I see that that logo has been cannibilized by some DC-9 outfit out of Florida.

What happened to National?

Ask America West

National

Some of their staff might be working here now, as well as some of their aircraft:

Also, some time ago a cargo airline out of Alaska flying DC-6's and B-727's was looking at acquiring National's 121 certificate.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, (it's not hard for me, mind you) who's TMA? The only TMA I know of is Trans Mediterranean Airways. They were a freight outfit out of Beirut, Lebanon. Last I heard, they were out of business.

TMA Trans Meridian. Some scheduled, some charter. 757s, 727s and MD-80s.

Bought by Pam Am

The 1960's - 80's National was purchased by Pam Am in an attempt to build a domistic feed route for its overseas operations during the hey day of de-reg in the early 80's. Source "Hard Landing"

National's logo

This was purchased from some old guy in the northeast that bought the copyrights to the National Sun Logo....Southeast airlines flying MD80s and DC9's out of Largo Florida....KPIE based......JFYI

Fly Me

the best part of the '60s and '70s National Airlines were that they named their palnes after very hot, 70s stewardesses. Every plane had a name near the cockpit (no pun intended). And the commercials, in very seductive voice said --

I'm Jennfier, fly me ...
I'm Samanta, fly me ...
I'm Alota Vagina, fly me ...
I'm ... fly me.

And as a teenager, I flew the a/c, but wished I flew them,
