Have an interview in 2 days for the first time at a corporate airline operation. I have been through the commuters and the major interviews and know what to expect from them but not from a corporate outfit. I know that there is no simulator ride and no written tests. It doesn't seem to me that they will ask too many technical questions from what I can gather. So do they concentrate on customer service type questions? If so what kind of questions do they ask and what kind of answers do they like?
Thanks in advance.

The ones I have had it is a get to know you interview. The know you can fly or train you to fly. They want to know if they can stand to be with you on the road or in the cockpit. They also want to know if you are going to treat the passengers right. It's all about customer service in corporate world. You have to interact with the passengers. It sometimes depends how big the operation is too.

You don't just wait until they get in and get buckled. I flew with an ex-airline guy and he had a real problem with that part of corporate flying. He thought he was just there to fly them and serve them or talk to them. There was a lot of complaining about him. He eventually got the swing of it and does pretty good now. Anyway hope this helps and good luck. Hope it goes well for you.

Dept 676 is correct, though I know of companies that go the full route of psych tests, knowledge test, a couple even conducted sim checks. Really depends on the company. Just like a major interview, get to know as much as possible about the company you're interviewing with. Don't take the first page your read off the internet. It would be embarassing if during the interview you said what a fine company president Mr. Jones is when Mrs. Johnson runs the company now. Do your research just like any other interview. Show that you're willing to chuck bags, clean the plane, go the extra mile so to speak. Being a corporate pilot isn't, like 676 said, strapping in and flying the plane. At a number of company's, you are not only the pilot, but the chef, attendant, detailer and driver as well.

Best of luck in your interview!

Do you like to Golf?

Yes, I love to Golf.

LOL! I suppose you may not get this question everywhere, but it is probally the most commonly asked question in Corporate Aviation Interviews.

Seriously, there is no standard in these interviews. Just be yourself, be honest, be positive, know your current airplane, and know as much as you can about the company you are interviewing with.

Also, you mentioned your interview was with a "Corporate Airline Operation." What do you mean by that term? Are you referring to a fractional operation, charter operation or a Corporate Flight Department...There are big differences. Know the terminology before you interview...it can be important.

Good Luck,
Jet Pilot

I posted a similar question a few months back. (You may want to use the search function for this forum, I received alot of great responses) I didn't get the job, but the interview was over lunch and consisted of "getting to know you" questions about my family, morals, and seeing if they could stand to go on a trip with me. Did not get any technical questions, but a few about things being busted on the aircraft and the boss (in back) giving you pressure to get home. Maybe I should learn to play golf. Good Luck!

Thanks for the help all!

Thanks everyone for the helpful information that you have given me. I had the interview and I have made it through the first phase and now have to go up in a Lear 31 with the owner and then have dinner with the two captains I will be flying with to get their okay. You were right about the questions. There were no technical questions on my last aircraft or even on any regulations. What I did get asked was basically personnel type questions on how I would treat the customer and what my philosophy on flying was and how I approached the whole flying thing. The only operational question I got was to brief an approach plate but that was it. I way over studied but I guess it's better to be over prepared than under. Thanks all again, your advice was very helpful.

By the way...does anyone know anything about Lear 31 profiles?

Thanks

HHmmm... what's "golf"????

Actually out of oour 26 pilots, I think we have about 4 who are avid golfers... 2-3 casual golfers and the rest are non-golfers...

Hey JetPilot500... Do they have Driving Ranges at Starbucks???
