if DaVinci did built his flying machine 500 years ago, and it flowered into what we know today a couple of hundred years later (with steam engines, albeit, or electric?)

linky

Let's hear it for comrade Vlad, now he has a picture of Che! You should really run a despot of the month on your avatar. Though Che failed in his ambitions (assisted by a well placed bullet) to make it to despot status, he certainly put forth the effort. Perhaps you could run the next few for us:

Pol Pot
Pinochet
Stalin (the best of all of them, over 30 million killed)
and last, but certainly the most lovable, Castro.

Let me know and I will get you the photos.

Mao

How about a before and after picture of Mao (before and after the cultural revolution). The only tyrant to "reinvent" himself/the party (one in the same).

Yaaaaaaay Vlad! :D

Pissing off the facists is fun, ain't it, Vlad?

"Power to the peep-hole ... er sump'n like dat."

I think you forgot one biggy.

VNugget--If you are referring to Hitler, I think as despots go, he was too focused on specific groups.

Pol Pot, Stalin and Mao, for example, simply whittled down their own population without regard to race or religion.

Hitler was very focused and effecient, but Stalin still leads the stats. TC

P.S.--Vlad--great link. Che had promise, he just never made the "show";)

Mao and Joe wanted to substitute the failing power of religion with the religion of their own, the cult of personality, rather than a reformed system. And they succeeded wonderfuly at it, creating life like statues of themselves and polluting the revolution. Castro remains as the last bastion of the totalitarian approach to power, like the dynasties of Bush and the like.

but anyway, [/end of thread hijack]

Snakum,

Ever looked up the definition of fascist? You may want to do that partner. Fascism has nothing to do with calling murderers exactly that, which about all of the avatars that Vlad uses depict.

Me, I am for free markets, whether it be information or goods and services. I also place the individual and individual rights ahead of the collective. I think you will find that your socialist movement brethren and heroes are much closer to being fascist than me. (At least if you go by the definition that Webster gives.):

Main Entry: fas·cism
Pronunciation: 'fa-"shi-z&m also 'fa-"si-
Function: noun
Etymology: Italian fascismo, from fascio bundle, fasces, group, from Latin fascis bundle & fasces fasces
Date: 1921
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality -- J. W. Aldridge>
- fas·cist /-shist also -sist/ noun or adjective, often capitalized
- fas·cis·tic /fa-'shis-tik also -'sis-/ adjective, often capitalized
- fas·cis·ti·cal·ly /-ti-k(&-)lE/ adverb, often capitalized

What was this thread about...?

Looks like bart is into killing people and letting god sort them out.

That's always a good thread stealer.

My old platoon sgt. used to say ... "Hey, I ain't God. I don't seperate the sinners from the saints. I'm just gonna shoot everything that moves and let Him sort it out later." :D

Bart does, however, need to get out of his cubicle and buy a sense of humor. Phuk'n Phacist!

ahh...it's actually a pretty neat, subsonic train, developed and chiefly sponsored by the american communist party, with a hefty dose of financing coming from the chinese

set to replace airplanes as the chief mode of interstate transport by 2008

FSI allready offers a $30,000 type w/recurrent training, while UND has a bridge program for its undergrads

Sorry snakum,

I forgot that you are the only one with a sense of humor on the board. Guess a lack of education and knowledge is your definition of sense of humor.

LOL haha, get it?
