IMHO it's inevitable, it's just a matter of when. MGMT maintains they have no desire to so so, but eventually the lack of reserve coverage out west will bite them. The first time a crewmember falls down the stairs and breaks a leg or something on the way to the van in the morning, and the company loses utilization of the airplane and rest of the crew for a half a day while the closest reserve (ORD) is shipped out, they'll probably reconsider. Our contract disallows a reserve-only base, so I suspect you'll see it eventually, even if it's a "small" base.

Why is that? Seems kinda restrictive especially if there are pilots that would benefit. I know quite a few SkyWest pilots in LAX, SFO, and long ago DFW that sure like being based near home on reserve verses commuting for a line.

Shuttle in SLC

My first officer husband has given up on the idea, he's based East(and wants to move east) and is still very junior. We rarely see one another. But I still have a little hope....I want to live in Oregon forever and I'm a hold out...
