Just curious:

I know a lot of people put stock in having someone walk a resume in. If you actually meet the mins and someone walks (or emails) in your papers, how much better are your chances of getting an interview over someone else (with more/less time than you)? A friend of mine took my resume in recently and said, "expect good things". I'm kind of new to the whole "walking in the resume thing" and would like some input. Thanks.

re: what are the chances

Man, I don't know what it takes. I have had my resume 'walked in' to several regionals and still haven't heard crap. 1400TT/210ME doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere. I'm hoping adding an ATP will make someone take me seriously. My telephone has cobwebs hanging off of it!

You have to remember how many guys that are qualified and furloughed, are trying to get the same job as you. Just because you meet the minimums, doesn't mean you are hired. Three years ago, that may have been the case, but now there are guys with type rating and turbine time looking for a job, not to mention the freight guys looking to get out. I know, I used to be there. I got hired as a 72 FE with 3000 total, and had to fight to get an RJ job after 9-11 and the subsequent furloughs. Keep looking, and don't ever take for granted the value of a friend on the inside. Good luck.

elguapo9, the first thing you need to do is get a makeover!! I wouldn't hire you to take out my trash. You look like sh it!:p

It is a very difficult market present day especially when you are competing with guys just like yourself with plenty more time, type ratings, previous 121 time/experience, 135 guys, multi-engine turbine time, pic turbine time, etc, etc.. In years past it was much easier for a 1000TT 300 multi guy to get the interview, now it seems that without other variables "luck" is going to have a big part on whether or not you are noticed and get the interview shot.

Knowing someone from within a company and getting the internal lor is a good thing and many companies look at them seriously but this really is not going to alter the hiring process and what has been in place for years. If I had a dollar for every person that has asked me to walk a resume in for them then I would be able to retire by now:D

Keep your fingers crossed but I would not put all your eggs in one basket. The airlines are being flooded by many many high time very qualified applicants so they can be very selective as well as picky.

good luck
