Looking for a shot to become a D-Boy.

Here is my flight time rounded to the nearest 100th:

Total: 7000
PIC: 5000
PIC Turbine (All 121): 2500
PIC Jet (All 121): 900
ATP - Typed: SF340, AVR-146, BAE-146, B737
Current European command experience on Avro RJ85.
All my time is civilian...no military experience.

- No bad stuff with FAA
- Failed my first attempt at Instrument Rating 1995, no other failures since.
- A few traffic tickets (Speeding, Failure to Obey Traffic Signal) - Last one was 1996
- Several external, two internal recs
- 4-Year Degree

Any idea if this is competitive enough for an interview?

Anything I could work on to improve my chances? Post Grad work maybe?

You have about the same hours as I do. I would say it is all about having someone go in and talk it up for you. Mine got reviewed after a first officer went in and talked to the guy doing the hiring. I also went to an Air Inc seminar. Check with your internal recs and see if they are still allowing people to come in. Good luck.

Thanks man.
One of recs said that walking in wasn't going to help. He tried that with another brotha, and it didn't expedite things. I tried to get to the ATL Air Inc., but I couldn't get the days off and I live in Dublin. I don't think DAL is going to be at DFW next week.

great point. It is the only place that DAL will show up to until they do their own interviews.
BTW you meet the criteria that most have been hired with. I can also tell you that it does help to have your stuff walked in. I have gotten people invites on the same day that I have walked their stuff in. Just make sure that he "knows" you well enough that he can explain every side of your app. Good and bad.

More important to know the right people than having a 100000 HRS and several lunar landings.

Delta does hire low time/experience military pilots too.

Good luck

I agree with ACL-65 that you should have a Delta pilot walk your stuff in and talk to Arnie. He is very receptive to the pilot group. It worked for me when John Swift was in charge. Just make sure your application is perfect. And I mean PERFECT. No spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and make sure your resume says Delta Air Lines and not Delta Airlines. Good luck.

...and make sure your resume says Delta Air Lines and not Delta Airlines. Good luck.
Oh Shiite! I already made this mistake. :-( Is this an absolute killer? I already had someone from management forward my resume, and it said Delta Airlines. So much for a job there...I don't even know who I'm applying to!

I used to be a ramp agent for Comair, and had never realized this subtle difference.

Just go online & fix it. NWA has been called every one of my friends who applied. NWA sure is not my cup of tea, but it sounds like that might be as good a way as any.

Don't lose sleep over the (Delta Airlines) resume. I did the same thing and will be starting class on the 4th. Also make sure your air inc. info and the Delta insert are EXACTLY the same. One of my guys went in and asked about me after six months of submitting my stuff, come to find out since I had two different "able to start" dates I was put in a holding pattern. I would still be waiting if he didn't find that out for me. I was hired with 3800 TT, 3400 part 121, 1400 PIC. Mostly commuter turboprop time with a little USAF time mixed in. Good luck

Tycer -

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll have to double check my app.

That is easy. DAL loves military. But they have realized this time around the cives train well.
