This was e-mailed to me.. It is a portion of a conference call from one of the less respected commuters out there. Way to be there for your employees!

FLORIDA COMMUTERS
It is a must that all are planning ahead within the next day for those families residing in Florida or nearby areas; don’t wait until the last minute. Don’t call Crew Scheduling stating you can’t make your pairing due to hurricane emergencies because of your lack of foresight and planning

Puhleeeeease! Did they get that idea from Steinbrener??? A$$holes.....

Wait, I have seen this type of thing before. Let me think..... Oh, it’s a Colgan Air conference call. You know, ASA is such a nicer place to work.

Obviously written by some idiot without a family.

I think I know which airline it is.

I think it is the same one that did the following to me on 9/11...

I was on days off in Grand Cayman on 9/11. I was due back at work on the 14th. My plan originally was to leave Grand Cayman on the 12th, get back home and have a day to get organized before heading back to work. It was to be my first day on line as a Captain on the Saab, after finishing IOE the week before.

As soon as the shock of the hijackings subsided a bit, and the airspace was closed down, I realized I was going to have a difficult time getting back to the U.S. I went to the airport, and sure enough, no flights were going back to the States. I even looked into taking a cruise ship to Florida, renting a car and driving the rest of the way back to Dayton, Ohio. I was serious about not missing my first day on line.

Options were looking bleak, so I called Crew Scheduling on 9/11 to give them a heads up, that I might miss my first day of work on the 14th, but I was giving it my all. Crew Scheduling's response was less than understanding. I was to be back at work or be fired.

I did make it back, BTW, by pulling some strings on an American Airlines flights that had diverted to Grand Cayman from South American on 9/11. I got out on 9/12, an absolute miracle.

Chperplt, is this the same airline?

The airline in question would be my former airline.. The board regulars should know who that is...

Here is another piece of the e-mail I found so friendly and caring. It's apparently from a memo sent out.

"Due to the number of Crewmembers now employed at XXXXXX XXX, and only one crew scheduler on duty per shift, please do not feel that you can call Crew Scheduling and vent your complaints, frustrations and opinions, no matter there validity."

"As a reminder; you bid a line and due to seniority you were awarded a line. It is your responsibility to cover that line; do not call Crew Scheduling and drop your situation on there lap and expect them to cover your flights for the month because you gave them a couple days notice. You must do everything in your power to cover your line by trip trading, and then notify Crew Scheduling if you need further assistance. If Crew Scheduling can’t help you cover the days you need off then the flights are still yours and last minute “sick calls” will only get you a First Offense. With over 100 crewmembers flying a day you are not the only person with a situation needing a solution so help your Crew Scheduler out and be professional."
