For the whale drivers, what type of headset do you guys prefer?

Usually just the little telex earpiece (not sure of the model number) and the hand mike for transmitting.

With pilot compensation where it is these days, I prefer the free one that's already sitting on the plane. Paid enough fn money to be an aviator already! Hand mike kinda sux but you get used to it.

I am using the Telex 750 but I think I am going to go to the Sennheiser 25 or 45. I am going to try them out this year at Oshkosh. The 750 has 1 design flaw. Over a period of time the point where the headband attaches to the earpiece will crack. This attach point was redesigned in the 850. The 850 would be great because its ANR and uses power from the mic jack. I have heard it works in the 74 but I am not sure. I think you need a hot mic jack or intercom to power the ANR module. Again I have heard it works but I don't know first hand.

850 won't work in the Classic Whale! No hot mic, no workee! Get a Bose Quiet Comfort 2 with a U Fly Mike attachment. Works great and you can listen to your ipod on the long crossings. ANR works great too.
