I'm looking for some direction or suggestions on flying for the Air National Guard. I am 27 years old and currently in the Army National Guard with an ETS in November 2003. By then I will have 10 years total service both active duty and nat'l guard. I am also graduating with a BS in December of 2003. In addition to this I am a civilian CFII and MEI with approximatley 1500 hrs. TT. I would very much like to get into the WI ANG but I'm flexible. I know I have to take my BAT test and a couple other tests. What else should I start getting together for a packet? Who is looking for pilots? What are my chances?

First of all, get some good recommendations, preferably from inside the unit. Go introduce yourself to the unit. Call ahead for a tour and get to know people there. Be enthusiastic and let them know that flying for them is your #1 goal and be positive about that. Have more drive to get it than anyone else. A good PCSM score is fine and all, but they won't even consider you if you don't fit in with the unit, ie personality.
