Hello I am interesting in being a warrant officer. With the intention of flying Helos preferable Blackhawk medivac or Apache attack. I am 27 and workin on last 20 pounds I need to meet entry requirements. Problem is how do I get the recruiting officer to start my Warrant package when I am short of meet meps entry standards? I know the Warrant package can take a long time. Any help out there would be appreciated. Oh also anyone out there that has flow either of the above air craft, let me know what you think of them.... Thanx.

Hello there. Read this thread: http://forums.flightinfo.com/showthread.php?t=48086 for some good info about assembling your package and about the gouge on the selection board.

In your situation, it seems like the best course of action is to meet the MEPS standards (and flight physical standards) before even beginning a package, because MEPS is pretty much the very first step. In what all areas are you deficient? You can PM me about it if you don't want to say publicly. If it's just that you're 20 pounds overweight, lose it. It's that simple. That problem is a mere speedbump compared to some of the challenges you'll encounter on your route to becoming an Army Aviator.

It's good that you have the intention of flying helicopters, because that's likely all you'll be flying. There's only one way to guarantee that you will fly a specific airframe and that's by being the number one guy on the order of merit list in flight school. I know that there are guys with lots of 60 and 64 experience on this board that can chime in on what it's about to fly those birds and their missions.

Thanx Ollie. I am 21 pounds or 1.5 inches from wieght/fat % target needed per my recruiter. I am 5 pushups short of the minimum 47 required and currently 3 short of the 67 situps needed. Also need to shave off bout 1.5 min on my two mile run time to meet flight specs. Running will be my hardest. I am 5' 10.5 " tall 270 lbs currently. Build like a brick wall or a tall dwarf (take your pick). Had Vision check and dental done. 20/20 and need some minor work. I work late hours so finding time to run is difficult and recruiters only run at nite while I am at work.... Odd I know. And still interested in Helo pilots for information/opinions on Apache or Blackhawks. Recruitor was out Today so I couldn't take ASVAB have to try again next tuesday. Thanx again.

Oh!, one other thing. I have been told by my recruiter (the little he will talk with me) that Warrant officer package can take 6 weeks to 8 months to complete. ???? is that wait time b4 the whole interview/selection proccess, or for the whole ball of wax???

Mine took about 7 weeks from the day I fist walked into the recruiter's office to the day I learned that I had been selected. I'd say that the length of the entire process will vary depending upon when the next board is and if you can get your packet in on time to get there.

If your recruiter is not forthcoming with information or seems unmotivated, fire him! He's not doing his job of recruiting you (hence his job title). There are plenty of recruiters out there that will bust their asses to get you selected. I would give you my recruiter's contact info, but he's retired.
