They merged some time ago. Still based in NC. Had two Falcon 2000s and some Excels I believe. Have sold one 2000 since the merger but I've heard they've order the Bombardier Continental as a replacement.
I was trying to do some more research today. There was a bank (I thought it was Wachovia) operating Lear 45s and 31As out of CLT. I heard they were thinking of moving to RDU.
Wachovia (formerly First Union) are still headquartered in CLT, I dont know where you got the RDU thing...Wachovia was Winston Salem based and First Union have always been in CLT. They have Falcons and Citations and I think still operate a corporate shuttle B1900 between CLT and ATL, though I heard this operation was under review.
Neither of the CLT banks have Lears
I do know of a CLT-based Lear 31A and Lear 45 operator, but it isn't a bank (in Charlotte, that's a surprise!). Family Dollar Stores is headquartered in Charlotte, and their flight department is based at CLT. A friend of mine used to work for them.
Last I knew, they had two Lear 31As (N931FD and N932FD) and a new Lear 45 (N945FD).
Pre-merger, First Union was Charlotte-headquartered and kept their airplanes at CLT. Wachovia was headquartered up in Winston-Salem, airplanes at INT. I know there was some downsizing when the departments combined. The combined Wachovia is based in Charlotte, and the flight department is still at CLT.
Thank you for the info - It's amazing how information you hear gets mixed. I went back to my source and you are right, it's not Wachovia, it was Family Dollar. I had been told a flight department was relocating to RDU, but I guess not.
