for those of us who are going to be on the road on "election day", will there be something in place to assure that we have time to call in in the middle of our 15/9, er I mean 14/10 duty day?

There is no "election day". Basically all you need to do is vote before the beginning of March. Voting will be open from the time you get your card until then. It's a simple as calling the number entering your pin and pressing the "yes" number it tells you. Remember vote early and vote often.;)

Very important that you vote per the instructions on your ballot. No extra marks or comments, and use an X if it says X, circle if it says circle. Ballots are voided if not marked exactly as instructed. I would also recommend, although it's not required, that you send your ballot in via certified mail, return receipt requested. At least you'll know your ballot arrives. You should get your ballot well before the deadline, assuming the union has your correct mailing info. You will have a point of contact, if you don't already, to call and request a replacement ballot if yours never arrives or is damaged in some way that may void it.

There is talk of leaping ahead to join the 21st century and set up electronic balloting. That will make life easier for those of us on the road for half of our lives. 1108 has a few other fish to fry, so I would expect it won't happen till the dust settles.

I thought the upcoming vote WAS to be electronic. Something like "Telephonic Electronic Voting", or TEV. Am I missing something here?

You're correct....it will all be done via phone. You will get a letter in the mail from the NMB with your ID and passcode. You will enter that when you call into the toll free number, then cast your vote. The voting window will last a couple weeks or so...no worries about not getting a chance to vote because you're on the road.

Will I get to stick my finger in the purple ink well when Im done ? Maybe show it to management.

Vote

I'll bet a lot of Flt Ops pilots would love to show their "finger" to mgmt................;)

I'd be using any phone OTHER than the BB that's for sure. Who know what the h*ll they're going to be up to.

I'm assuming it's a toll free number for a reason.....and the NMB does that on purpose...
