Anybody have an idea what the pay scale for the pilots on the VLJ aircraft
are? Day Jet will be interviewing soon and I was just curious.

I saw an interesting point on here a while ago, it went something like this:

I think the pay will be low. The insurance minimums will be lower, thus companies will hire lower time pilots who will work for less. I have a feeling the VLJ's will be to the corporate world as the RJ's have been to the airline world.

I hope the original poster was wrong, but it seems feasible...

Never happen. No Gulfstream, Falcon, Lear or even KA350 owner is going to trade down for an Eclipse. Supplemental capacity? Yes. Replacement? No.

The problem with RJs is that they replaced mainline flying instead of supplementing as was originally advertised.

The Eclipse won't make it across any ocean without a good pair of oars, either.

Thought they were talking $50K Captains....

I think they will all be Captains. If you put a First Officer on there, they won't be able to take any passengers!

50,000... Great here it comes......Over at FLOPS the pay sucks, but at least the first year BJ Capt will make 50,000, and its a 2, TWO, TOO, pilot airplane operation. So at Sky Jet taxi your a single pilot doing 2 pilots jobs, for the same pay. You should set the bar early.

lower insurance? Doubt it. Itll probably be much higher than normal, and the range with 4 people and bags? @ 600 miles..

from what I've read they're gonna require 2 pilots anyhow.

gonna be hard to pay everyone when you can only carry 1 pax at a time.

and the range with 4 people and bags? @ 600 miles..

Careful with that statement. Are those the numbers that Eclipse has put out?

Because the other numbers they put out were:
1. Originally under 1M (missed that one)
2. Able to operate at FL410 (They are non-RVSM right now so the highest I have seen them is 280.)
3. It will do 370 KTS. ( The fastest I have seen them is 290kts)

Lets not even talk about how much more money they want from customers for deposits. Also is that 4 people, 1 pilot 3 pax or 2 pilots and 2 pax?

But, at least they give you a nice handy dandy handheld Garmin GPS!

"I have once seen me a mermaid"

The VLJ is a JOKE. Sorry, I would not bet on that horse. Maybe a few doctors will be driving around, but as a fractional???? Not going to fly.
And as far as the estimates go for sales, another fairy tale.

We're in trouble, then, Fozzy. I heard Raytheon just sold us 90 of their new 4-seat Hawker 150XP airframes. :D

All the VLJ is going to do is replace aging turbo props and bring in some pilot/owners who want to own a "jet".

Kind of like the guy who braggs about owning an Italian sports car... then you find out its a Fiat.:bawling:

I DO however think there will be a small market for an Air Taxi system like DayJet. If they can keep the ticket price reasonable, and promise what they advertise; the business plan has potential. But ya know what they say...
