Anything special required to get the second passport?

A letter to the state department telling them that you need a second passport because your frequent international that requires visas.

You must also provide them with an itinerary stating your conflicting international trips, thus the need for a 2nd passport.

ie. a trip to Europe and back followed up with trip to a country that requires a visa. Thus making it impossible to travel to Europe while applying for a visa.

G3 emailed me a sample letter and the mail away Passport app. Im going to post office tomorrow to send it out. They said the second Passport is only good for a limited period. Not sure what that means. Just another hoop to jump thru.

Second passports are only good for 2 years, not 10 years as your primary. Also the second passports are no longer renewed after expiring, but an entirely new 2 year passport is issued.

Also suggest that you renew any passport that has 6 or less months of validity left in it, as many countries will not let you enter or issue you a visa if your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival.

Brazil requires visas.
Get on letterhead from your company stating you fly to conflicting regions in the Middle East and hence need 2 Passports. I concur, second one is nonrenewable and only two years. :)

This is only partially correct - Brazil does NOT require a visa for the front office part of the crew - meaning the pilots. A flight attendant, mechanic and any other person on board the aircraft DOES require a visa (this pertains to US citizens).

Tx for the update, they were asking for it for a while and sometimes the FBO handlers could get them for you on landing in Rio. haven't been there in a while :(
