This is posted for anyone who lives in or will be in Detroit this weekend. This is being done in recognition of the Vietnam Veterans on the 30th year following the evacuation of Saigon, and there is no charge to view the wall. Everyone is invited.
This weekend an 80% scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Washington DC will be at Willow Run Airport. It will be located at the site of the old Yankee Air Museum on the northeast corner of Willow Run Airport. It is set in a truly unique setting inside the wingspan of the B-52 and Huey helicopter, both also veterans of the war in Vietnam. Opening ceremonies will be an 1800 on Friday 6-03-05 and the wall will then be open 24 hours a day until Sunday 6-05-05. There is no charge to the public to visit the wall. On Saturday, night there is a dinner with a guest speaker at a charge of $50. Tickets to the dinner can be purchased at the wall on Saturday. The speaker will BGEN Robin Olds, USAF (ret), he is the former commander of 8 TFW and a W.W.II ace. He also is credited with 4 MiGs destroyed in Vietnam. He is a dynamite speaker and someone not to be missed.
