CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuela is considering selling its fleet of U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets to another country, perhaps Iran, in response to a U.S. ban on arms sales to President Hugo Chavez's government, a military official said Tuesday. Gen. Alberto Muller, a senior adviser to Chavez, told The Associated Press he had recommended to the defense minister that Venezuela consider selling the 21 jets to another country.

I wonder what the Venezulan military leadership thinks about their crackpot president. If I were them, I'd tell him that those F-16s aren't going anywhere . . . . . . but he is.

Iran is going to have a hard time considering they don't sell f-16 parts in an Aircraft Spruce catalog

They'd never make it to Iran anyway. It's just a question of time until this wack-job of a "leader" goes away.

I say sell 'em. Win-win. Chavez won't have them, and, IF the Iranians can get 'em up and running, all will be crashed within a year through CFIT, GLOC, midair, engine failure, OOC...should be quite the comedy of errors.

Agreed! Encourage them to sell 'em! My only concern: Iran might put some of their Tomcat parts on the Viper and make a Swing-Wing-Phoenix-shootin'-Viper-Tomcat derivative! Would that be a "ViperCat"?? Scary stuff, folks.....

p.s. Are the Venezuelan Dash-1's in Spanish? How about Farsi??

Don't forget putting them out of control and ejecting during piddle pack use. ;)

Put Jack Bauer on the case....

Only if one has to land on the freeway to avoid taking a heater up the arse . . . . . . . . which is a distinct possibility!!

Even with a few export model F-16s, the Iranian Air Force would last about as long as the raghead idiots in Sadam's aero club when up against the US or Israeli air forces.

I'm sure the generals in Venezuela are just chomping at the bit to change over to Russian equipment.
