I was flying out of Mc Carran Int'l a few days ago and I heard and then saw what looked like an Embraer Legacy referred to as "Vegas Heat."

Anyone know much about this operation out of LAS? Looked like it was going west bound towards SoCal... Couldn't tell if it was a normal corporate shuttle or an executive aircraft belonging to one of the casinos for the high rollers...

I was in LAS recently and I heard it too on the radio. I was wondering if it belonged to a casino. Anyone know anything about Corporate Flight International? Looks like they have some nice aircraft in their managed fleet...

"Vegas Heat" is a term unique to Legacy pilots. It simply means that whenever the temperature is over 90 degrees, the Legacy can only take off with enough fuel to fly from McCarran to North Vegas.

You must be thinking of a Challenger. :)

Now, while I appreciate humor...I cannot let this comment stand. It is bogus on so many levels.

The "E" engine Legacy can operate at max weight from a 6000 foot Sea Level runway up to 97 degrees F (or so). That's enough to go 3250 NM with 8 perps--not just North Vegas. I take the boss to KMMU from KLAS all year (even in the hot summer) and I am never wanting in the fuel department.

Our engines are ISA + 20 (EDIT IN: Just looked it up. A1E is ISA +19 Degrees). So we produce rated power at higher temps than a lot of airplanes. For hot performance we do just fine.

A bud of mine did 3350 NM (with legal Reserves) last month into a headwind in one of the new birds. That's pretty respectable.

YMMV but this is not the old "P" Legacy any more... That thing couldn't get out of its own way.
