Most of the threads i've seen on this are from last year. Anyone got any new news on vegas and grand canyon operators? I'm heading out to California, and I'd like to stop by these places on the way out.

We can ignore PFT cause even if I did have the cash.. I wouldn't do it.. er.. at least not yet ;)

Check out Grand Canyon Airlines at the canyon, they have about a half a dozen Twin Otters. There are a bunch of single engine operators there, I don't know there names.

Check out Air Grand Canyon (greeny weinies) while your at the south rim. They fly green 206/207's. Stop in Page and talk with American aviation- 206/207's. When you get to vegas, talk with King Airlines in Henderson, same thing 206/207's. You can try your luck with Air Vegas, but they charge you 5 large for training in the Beech99's. Try Scenic Airlines as well, they have Twotters and Fokkers. Both of them are at Noth Vegas and are probly not hiring anyway. If you want to get some Do-228 "dorkknob" time fork over some cash to Vision. Thats about all that will hire low-timers. Most every other operator has high mins.

Also, if your a jump pilot, check out Sky Dive Las Vegas in Boulder City and the jump place in Jean,NV. Both of them need pilots frequently. I worked next door to SDLV and they a good group of people and have decent planes, they are also about to get a Caravan. This is the time of year for everybody in that area to start hiring. Good luck.

SDLV has been "about to get a Caravan" for the last two years! I had a friend who worked there and got alot of good time, but he said that the owner was hard to work with. Skylane58, you must have worked for Lake Mead. Are they still around?

Air Grand Canyon

Air Grand Canyon might indeed be an idea. Here's the contact information:

6000 Janine Drive
Prescott, Arizona 86301

Phone: 928-776-6000

FAX: 928-776-8099

PLEEEEZE don't P-F-T.

JustAPilot- Grand Canyon Airlines has pretty high mins as far as I remember.

PilotMonkey- Lake Mead is gone, probably for good.

Earls doing good now. He and Art are bummed about LMA closing the doors. It all goes to auction May 10, incase you want to buy the dog or something.

Hey Scub,
Try King airelines, They are out of Jean (0L7) now because Henderson has shortened their runway. Doesn't take long til they put you in the 402. The chief Pilot's name is Vince Stapleton.
I have heard that Scenic is on the brink of oblivion. At Skydive LV you will probably only flythe182/206's and the owner is very hard to work for (but, at least he admits it off the bat).
Good luck,
Tuna

Wondering where in the world you heard that?!?! Quite the contrary, in my opinion. Things are looking very optimistic around there.
Can you tell me where you got that info?

I had heard this from a local mechanic a few months back (Glad to hear he was wrong). Good to know that scenic is doing good.
