Maybe a dumb question but, who does the flying for USPS? Looks like Ryan did it at one point but I cant find any other info.

thanks

FedEx

I believe it is all done by FEDEX. It was a huge deal not too long ago, killed emory, express one, hurt ryan. I'm sure many guys on here know more. -kingaia90

Kinda funny, the gov't allows a direct competitor to contract for them. Part of the deal was to allow FedUp to put drop boxes in the USPS offices.

Fedex has the USPS contract......and the rich just keep getting richer!!!

Messed up..

It was all a deal for the Post Master General; from what I understand that guy is now on the board of director's at FedEx, hhhuummmm.... Sounds like someone benefited out of the whole deal. The USPS also had to pay hefty monies to those airlines that had contracts doing the the flying because of a, "Breach of Contract." Express One Int'l. got $40 Million and then shut down as soon as they got their check. Suckaas!

Is the USPS/FedEx deal just express mail? The first class mail used to ride as belly freight on the pax carriers. I think Alpine Air has a contract flying interisland mail in Hawaii.

Fedex stole the USPS express mail contract (another golf course deal) from many cargo carriers, effectively putting 1500 guys on the street just before 9/11, who subsequently couldn't claim the extra benefits made available for the furloughed passenger guys who lost their job after 9/11. 1st class mail still rides on pax carriers, and a cargo carrier or two (Alpine Air, Kalitta ?) still have a mail contract where fedex doesn't have the service or they provide feeder service.

<---- me furloughed after fedex took the mail away. Half the fleet went to the desert, half the guys to the unemployment office
