Just a quick question,

What will I go through in my flight physical/medical as opposed to the exam I took at MEPS. I know it's more indepth, but how much?
This will be for the PLC program in the Marine Corps.

thanks again,
Jeff

Watch Fletch again

Do you remember the scene where Fletch goes to the Doctor's office and the doctor introduces himself?

Yahtz

Fletch?

Maybe I am too young to know what this means???

Please explain.

Thanks,
Jeff

You really don't know who Fletch is? Jesus! Nevermind, it wasn't that funny of a joke anyway. I just went through the full flight physical a month ago so I'll take a jab at this.

Much of it is very redundant from the MEPs physical. You know, height, weight, blood pressure, etc. But they throw in an EKG, chest x-ray, and they took 8 vials of blood from me. Yes 8!. Hearing test again, eyes including color and depth perception, then the full cycloplegic where they dialte your eyes. There's also a full dental exam, so brush your fangs real good prior. Keep in mind that they are looking for anything to disqaulify you with. At the end was the flight surgeons exam. For myself this was done by a Navy Captain. Honestly this part felt more like an interview to me than a physical.

Most important is that you give the impression that you believe you are in tip top shape. Don't go in there and pull the hypochondriac crap that some candidates do. "Well you know, Doc, sometimes my balls hurt when..."
Or "Well when I was a kid I swallowed 12 gallons of paint and..."

"No, I've never had a cold, or a headache, or anything else. I always feel great" Is the order of the day.

Expect about 6 hours or so dependong on how many others are going through with you.

JStock,

You're killlin me...You've never seen Fletch?

Jafar,

Come on be honest....you may not have laughed at the joke, but you got the point...or at least the finger. You didn't mention the that part of the physical to JStock.

Dr. Jelly Finger

Well my doc just asked me, "Any rectal problems?"

"No!"

"Okay, we won't worry about that then."

Which is rather out of character being that he was a Navy guy.;)

They didn't even do that when I went through MEPS for boot camp or PLC juniors. Or at anytime since I've been in the Corps, actually.

Maybe its an Air Force thing?

But Jstock can always request it if he so desires.

jstock,

While you're at it go ahead and rent "The Jerk" or "Animal House." Classic laughs from an era you apparently missed.

I have seen animal house, but not the jerk. I guess one out of three is'nt bad.

late,
jeff
