I see more King Air 350's for sale now than I did say 12 months ago. Yes I know oil is up.

With that said, how is the light airplane market ? Is this a time to try to buy and sell one or two airplanes and try to make a profit ?

I am talking C-172, Piper Cherokee, etc, not a Beech Starship or MU-2.

Market is a buyers market for sure. I've looked at a few light twins for something I'm starting up and prices are really good right now. I say buy...

If you have the money, buy. If you don't have the money, finance then buy.

....if it fornicates, flies, or floats, RENT IT.

Heyas,

Piston twins are in the dumper. Cessna twins were especially bad because of the threat of 402 spar issues spreading to other 300/400 series types, but that has abated somewhat. Prices overall are low.

Light singles are low (150, PA-28s, 172s) but not terribly so. Probably your best bet if Avgas vanishes all of a sudden because they can run on the new no lead spec. Anything high compression or turbocharged will need some fair expense to run the stuff due to the need of electronic ignition systems.

High end singles (182 and up) are down more than the lighter end.

As always, the nice birds always sell, because there are always people with money looking for a clean ride. It's the non-updated older aircraft with few upgrades (expecially avionics) that are taking the biggest hit.
