Anyone have any news about the -65 that is laying sideways out on Samoa Beach? Saw the floats deployed, and it looked as if it ditched really close to the beach/waterline. I was out there 7 years ago around the time of the 6549 accident, but that was a different life.

Local papers today had photos. Removed it from the surf with an excavator and loaded it on a flatbed. Took it to the CG boat station area on the north spit. Aircraft looked kinda beat but not that bad. Might be airworthy again someday as a C model? All four guys reported to be ok.

I live there and remember both the Shelter Cove loss and the "out at sea" loss. Not to mention the Air Force or Air Guard C-130 that "ran out" of fuel and ditched a few years ago.

Fly Safe.
