Yea Ha- Judgement day is close for a deserving group at mainline Pr*cks. My hearts with the hard workers at the PI and ALG. Time for the U superior class of Airmen to choke on the Goose Liver Pate'.

catbird grow up

Your talking out of both sides of your mouth. My pop was allegany and worked his ass off for USAIR to ultimately have his pension decimated. None of the USAIR pilots deserve to be on the street, c'mon now.

Well I am sure that if they start selling: it will start by selling the wholly's... PSA with the jets may be mesa bound. PDT & ALG gone for good......Now I can finally get on with my life.... LOL

FREE AT LAST!!! THANK GOD ALMIGHT WE MIGHT BE FREE AT LAST!!

Feel sorry for you guys at ALG, along with some friends and former co-workers who were picked up by PDT. Glad I got out when I did. Good luck

Although I will be wrong about this, I think this might be the best thing that could ever happen to PDT and ALG. Maybe Virgin wants some turboprops!

Seriously, UAIR ain't gonna give us jets or build our companies, because they are a sinking ship. Anyway, Mesa has bought Air Midwest, CCAir and Florida Gulf, none of which had jets.

I'm not suggesting I'm in anyway wanting to go fly for Mesa, BUT I could see them buying all three WO's 'cause we cheap, plus we own some fourty Dash-8's between PDT and ALG.

My belief: we're all going to airshuttle, buy one get two free type deal.

And PDT and ALG could end up feeding United Airlines out of IAD.. This will all be very interesting! US Airways could become United Airlines Regional carrier.... Hmmm ok... bye bye

I guess Usair isn't doing as well as they expected. Seems to me and people i know that it's going to be the doom within a couple years!!

I'll bet you Ornstein is licking his chops right now dreaming about the "scraps" that will be left over after USAirways keels over... I think the main investor in Alabama is starting to sweat - watch out!

Good luck to all involved!

From what I understand by talking to some friends of mine that fly for ALG, they are losing pilots left and right. I'm sure the same is true at PDT. My friends also told me that ALG does not have enough pilots right now to fill their February lines. My question is, do you think that either ALG or PDT will bring in people from off the street at this time of uncertainty? If so, would you want to interview there or even accept a position from then with not knowing what their future may hold?

Piedmont just had a new hire class.. Jan. 6! Those poor souls:(
Wait till our schedulers get a hold of YOU!!! You'll be singing, "Thank you sir, may I have another!" However, if its Flight Time you need, you have came to the right place. Been here 4 years... Almost each year I have flown over 900hrs, and this past year many of our pilots had 1000hr problems.

Its bad right now... Coming to Piedmont or ALG I think is a big crap shoot. Never never know, something good or bad could happen in the future. Right now, sorry things point to bad. But remember you are dealing with US Airways and its decision making process. Anyway, Pay is good, Planes are nice to fly, so get some 121 and go to a quaility airline or stay and ROLL THE DICE BABY... G-Day

This rumor is really snow balling. You dont suppose management is doing this to put pressure on the union do ya? Or how bout USAir selling PDT or ALG and then combining the seniority list of the one reamining. Think Positive! :D

What is the connection?

From Reuters 1/8/04:

The assets include the airline's shuttle service between Boston, Washington and New York, its US Airways Express regional jet service , and possibly one of its three hubs, according to sources. The hubs are in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Also on the block, according to sources, are various gates, slots at slot-controlled airports -- for example at New York's LaGuardia airport -- and routes. No aircraft or transfer of employees is contemplated at this point, they said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Reading this story I wonder how PDT and ALG are even part of the discussion. It seems that the people that fly the jets are the ones that should be worried, because the whole problems stems from the mainline pilots. That is just from reading the new stories, maybe people on the inside know more.

In those same stories it also said "their regional airline US Airways Express." (singular)

I don't think anyone has any clue what they want to sell. Morgan Stanley is reviewing all of the company's assets, and you're right dying turboprop airlines are not too hot right now. BUT I remember three or four years ago when ACA was going to buy all three of us with all our turboprops and no jets.

Do any of you think before you type? Why would Airways sell its New Express RJs? In fact they are all leased anyways they dont own them. This is one of the keys to Daves recovery plan. Nothing would be dumber then spending millions at PSA for training and then just getting rid of it? How can you make money with out the new RJs ? you cant..... and no contract carriers are not the answer either. Lets face it US Airways does not want props anymore so if they can sell them and make money why not do it? I believe ALG and PDT actually own some of the Dashes. There is no way they would sell of PSA a to keep a bunch of dashes around, what would that get them? nothing PSA just has pilots and a training department. Look it sucks but airways needs to do what it can to stay alive. Mainline people will not even listen to Daves new plan so what choice does he have? And as for one senority list at the w/o's the only reason it has been done is for a flow through to MidAtlantic NOT for a merger. Come on you all use your heads why is PSA preparing to take 70 seat jets (mechanics are in ground school) and it has been stated that the negotiating comitte will meet this month if they are going away? No RJs at Airways = No Airways, however No Props at Airways = Airways with an all RJ feeder which as we all know is what the public wants. The scope clause does not allow enough RJs at a contract carrier to even make Airways run its express with a w/o. Dave S is between a rock and a hard place and he can not make anyone happy. However if we think about it and if he can bring 60 planes back online without adding pilots then the work rules over at US Airways are still great. Any other airline is staffed so cut throat that even one airplane more would require more pilots. At ALG we can not even fly all our flights due to staffing levels and planes are going back, heard it is the same at PDT and even PSA on the Dornier. Life sucks I have accpeted it I just hope for the best for all of us
